“Dammit Daryl!” Gypsy complained

“Dammit nothing Gypsy” Daryl growled “You were just lying on deaths door two weeks ago. I know the doc says you’re making a great recovery and everything but I don’t think you should be traveling”

Gypsy could feel her anger start to bubble. She knew he meant well and was just trying to look out for her but the thought of him being gone for three weeks and her stuck here was not sitting well with her.

“Well that’s fine Daryl. You go back to Alexandria, I’m going to Hilltop and if you think I won’t leave after you’re gone then think again” Gypsy said quietly

Daryl sat down heavily on her bed and stared at her. He should have known better…..he knew she was going to do whatever she wanted to do, no matter what anyone else said or thought. It was the part of her that drove him nuts, probably because he was the exact same way.

“Fine” he said softly “We’ll go together….we’ll stop at Hilltop on the way to Alexandria but please Gypsy, if you start feeling tired or start hurting, you have to tell me….please” he pleaded

Gypsy thought about it and nodded her head.

“I will…I promise” she smiled, slipping her arms around his neck kissing him softly

Daryl rolled his eyes.

“It’s amazing how you can go from the Tasmanian devil to perfectly sweet in a manner of seconds.” He said trying not to smile.

Gypsy shrugged her shoulders, trying not to laugh.

“What can I say? I’m nuts” she grinned

“No truer words have been spoken” he laughed, picking her up and sitting her on his lap.

Gypsy and Daryl checked their bags over, making sure they had packed everything.

“You ready to try this again?” Daryl said giving her a half smile

Gypsy nodded her head and tried to smile but the truth was, she was scared to death. The last time they tried to do this it hadn’t gone so well.

“Gypsy, it will be fine sweetheart” Daryl said softly, pulling her into her arms. “Richard is dead and there’s no one to get in our way.”

Gypsy nodded again and closed her eyes resting her head on his chest.

“I know” she said softly “Just the bad memories is all”

Daryl nodded

“I know” he said quietly, trying to calm her nerves.

Both of them jumped as a knock on the door sounded.

“We’re quite the pair” Daryl whispered and smiled sheepishly

Answering the door, they were greeted by the wide smile of Ezekiel.

“Hello you two” He beamed “Are you about ready? The truck is gassed and ready to go”

Daryl nodded and looked at Gypsy who still looked haunted.

“Yeah” Daryl said quietly still looking at her.

“Give us a hug then Gypsy” Ezekiel smiled, wrapping his arms around her.

Gypsy smiled softly and hugged him back.

“We’ll be back before you know it” She said to Ezekiel “Take care of my girl for me”

Ezekiel smiled and nodded, not trusting his voice to speak. Grabbing a bag, they began making their way to the truck that sat waiting for them. Throwing them in the back, Gypsy climbed in with her heart hammering in her chest, I really need to get a hold of myself, she thought to herself. Watching Daryl getting in and smile sweetly at her, she tried her best to calm her frayed nerves. They would be fine and what happened last time would not happen again. Watching Daryl pull through the gates she smiled and waved to her friends, but she still couldn’t shake her uneasiness.
