Chapter VIII

⧞Hunger⧞

The crew waited for the Sun to come out, it was too dangerous to venture the forest in the dark. It would be dangerous enough during the day. Plus it was good for Jungkook's health, because of the beating he got from the merman and the wounds he suffered from Jiyong. His body was weak.

"I'm sure this is not poisonous." Jimin ran over to Jungkook who looked down at the berries in Jimin's small hands. Jungkook smiled but he shook his head. "Let's not risk it, Jiminie." The smile fell from Jimin's face and he lowered his hands. "But you haven't eaten anything since last night." "Neither have you!" Jungkook raised his voice, holding Jimin's hand. "Hyung, we should just leave and end this fast." "But..." Jimin sighed, letting the berries fall from his hands before he nodded, forcing a small smile. "Okay." "Okay." Jungkook repeated with a smile while standing up. "Let's go!"

There was no path in the forest, as expected. The rock helped because it seemed to glow brighter the further they moved to the heart of the island. Jimin winced when a branch flicked back after one crew member, scratching his neck. "Are you okay?" Namjoon leaned over his shoulder and he shook his head. "You'll be fine." Jimin nodded.

In the corner of his eye he saw something move fast. "Jungkookie?" He called for his lover, moving pass the crew to the captain who was ahead of everyone. "The mermaids told me we should pray." Jungkook chuckled, glancing at Jimin who was looking around. "Seriously, this forest is creeping me out!" "It's a reason why the treasure is here." "No, it's for a different reason. Like, like there's someone-" Jimin winced when he felt a sting in his neck. He reached up and brushed his neck, grabbing a small needle before examining it.

"Jungkook what is..." His words were slurred as his sight doubled. He bumped into Jungkook who grabbed him before he could fall. "Jimin?! What's wrong?" Jimin smiled, he tried to raise his hand to touch Jungkook's cheek but his hand fell and his body was limp in Jungkook's arms. "Jimin!"

The crew panicked when all of a sudden people as black as night jumped from everywhere around them. It wasn't clear if they were black but they did wear something black like mud over their skin. Jungkook hugged Jimin's body, taking his sword out and ready to fight them but they had no troubles in disarming them.

Jungkook watched with wide eyes as the tribe tied Jimin to a table. "Hyung! Wake up!" Jungkook yelled, fighting against the wooden cage but they were way too strong. "We need to find a way out. Right now!" Jungkook turned towards Namjoon and the crew. Namjoon sighed, looking around. "They're cannibals. Jimin isn't much different from us, I can't understand why he's out there." "Because of his looks." One of the crew member spoke which made Jungkook look at him more menacing than he wanted. It made the man lower his gaze.

"Where's the rock?" Namjoon questioned. Jungkook looked out of the prison and with a sigh pointed towards Jimin. "Next to him." Jungkook wanted to murder the entire tribe for separating them and tying Jimin like an animal. Namjoon's eyes widened when he saw one of the men place the red rock on Jimin's chest before placing another purple one. And both were glowing. "Jungkook, we found the other part of the map." "What?" "The rocks are a map. They glow whenever they're close to each other and that's how we know we're getting close to the treasure. There must be a third rock."

Jungkook turned around to look at Jimin's body and his eyes widened in surprise. "They don't want us to pass." "They're probably hungry." "Hyung, are they planning on eating Jimin first!?" Jungkook yelled, tightening his hold on the wood. Namjoon ran his hand through his hair. "I don't know, Jungkook."

Jimin opened his eyes, the front of his head was throbbing like he was sick. He tried to raise his hands to rub his temples but his hands couldn't move. "Jungkook?" It was his first thought, he had nothing else more important to think of. "Jungkook!" He yelled, trying to look around. He felt his stomach twist when he saw Jungkook and the crew inside a wooden cage. "Hyung! Just don't worry, we'll run away somehow!"
