It took a while for your leg to heal. DoFlamingo took care of you the whole time, petting your hair when you drifted off to sleep, and always close by when you woke. He never complained, never sassed you, never snapped. You couldn't remember the last time anyone had been so gentle with you.

When you were finally able to remove your cast and stand, you were shaky from your weakened muscles. But you could stand. For the first time in years, your leg didn't buckle under your full weight. And other than the lingering pains of newly-mended bone, your leg didn't hurt. The near-constant pain that had plagued you was gone.

Laughing, you limped in a circle, using your busted leg as opposed to dragging it behind you. "I can walk! DoFlamingo, I can walk!" You turned towards him and reached out.

He didn't hesitate to wrap his arms around you and carry you off your feet. Holding on to him, you buried your face in the feathers of his coat. You could walk.

~~~
Limping with relative ease, you walked next to DoFlamingo through his garden. Humming to yourself, you ran your fingertips against flower petals and over leaves.
You turned to say something to DoFlamingo, when Grey ran up, panting. "M'lord! You're needed, sir." He motioned back towards the castle. Spotting you, he bowed and said, "M'lady."
DoFlamingo gave an exaggerated sigh and started to walk away, grabbing hold of the back of Grey's shirt and dragging the butler behind him. Grey waved to you as he was drug away. "Goodbye, m'lady."
Alone now, you continued on, passing out of the rows of bushes and plants. Sunlight was warm on your skin and a slow breeze kept you from getting too hot. And that's when you realized that nothing was holding you down.
Looking around, you saw that for the first time in months, you were alone. Utterly and completely. You knew your way around, it wouldn't take long for you to make a dash to the front door, especially with the pain gone from your leg.
But... DoFlamingo. Just thinking his name made your heart flutter. Did you want to leave? And even if part of you did, could you leave? You didn't know. Indecision made you shift from one foot to the other, your body uncertain of the way your mind was telling it to go.
If you did leave, if you did manage to get to a ship, and if you did leave this place... What then? You'd traveled alone for a long time, but now the thought of being alone, of going to bed without the warmth of another beside you was almost unbearable.
'I guess you've caught me, your majesty...' Turning around, you headed back in the direction of the castle, admiring the flowers as you went.
DoFlamingo hovered above the garden, watching you walk back towards his home. 'She didn't run?' Confusion was pushed aside by joy, and he started to drop back towards the ground. 'Why does that make me so happy?'
You stopped for a minute and leaned onto your busted leg, raising your good one up so you were only standing on the scarred one. Giggling, you stood on one leg for a moment, ridiculously happy that you could stand on it without pain.
"Are you happy?" You almost fell at the sudden sound of his voice, whirling around to see DoFlamingo standing behind you.
"Wha- How did you- What are you- Hi?"
DoFlamingo got down on one knee in front of you, but he still had to bend down to look into your eyes. "Are you? Happy, I mean? With me?"
You blinked. Now, wasn't that the question of the century? You looked away from him, thinking. Were you? At first you'd wanted nothing but to leave, to escape from a monster that treated you like a pet as opposed to a human being. But now... He was always so kind, so gentle with you. He'd given you your leg back and nursed you for as long as it hurt. And for all his needs, he had never once hurt you for the sake of hurting you.
Stepping forward the last bit of distance, you took his face in your hands and gently kissed him. "Yes, DoFlamingo. You make me happy."
He took off his glasses and held your hands in his. "Then marry me."
"What?"
"Marry me. Be my Queen."
You stared at him for a moment, part of you almost expecting him to take it back. But the emotion burning in his blue eyes told you differently, and you smiled at him. You held back your tears long enough to say, "Of course, DoFlamingo." Then you collapsed into his arms and cried on his shoulder, love burning in your chest.
DoFlamingo held onto you, going down to his knees and pressing you close to his body. "I'll take care of you." He promised. "I'll always take care of you."
