Chapter 13
A N D R E W I S O U T O F C O N T R O L
Carol comes up to me in the hallway at school the next day and smiles like a sloth.
"You look tired." She says and pokes under my eye. I look at her, and nod. I am. And my face proves it. I have purple outlining my eyes and my eyes are red, like I'm hungover, but really I was crying almost the whole night. Yesterday was very emotional for me, and I don't know why. I tried to cover it up by putting makeup on, with a nice wing to draw attention away from my bags. But I don't know if it's working.
I notice Parker stare at me as I pass him, and he lifts his foot to walk over to me. I shake my head. I can see pain in his eyes as he looks at me, but then he swings his head low and walks he other way. I look back and see him watching me as he walks away. Secretly, he sends me a risky wink. I smile, my day a little brighter.
I'm not looking forward to finding Andrew and apologizing, but I felt so...bad yesterday. I look around for him while Carol mumbles about how she dropped her dog, Shiner, off at the vet and she's worried about him.
"Do you see Andrew?" I ask her. She stops talking and looks at me then shrugs.
"No, but he usually goes to room zero, zero, zero, zero."
"What's zero, zero, zero, zero?"
"It's an abandoned room. Guys go there all the time to get their daily fill of girl's saliva." She makes a face and points to my right. "It's in the other hallway." I turn to her with a smile.
"Show me."
She looks forward and then at her watch before shrugging.
"A life full of being a goody two shoes, I can be late for once." I smile at her and she kind of shoulders me to the right. I move and walk to where the abandoned room is. I have a feeling I've been in front of it talking to Andrew before, but I don't fully remember where it is.
Carol pulls open a door and I scan the numbers on the side. 0000. I nod at it smiling to myself. Andrew better be in here. Walking toward this room, makes me think. Maybe I can find Parker and I a room to go into when we want to get dirty at school. Not full on dirty, just kissing.
"This is it." Carol sighs and pulls open the heavy looking door. Two guys stand in front of the door, as if blocking the view inside. Oh. So it's like a whole organization. Body guards. In school?
I watch them as they scan the hallway and pull us two in by our shoulders. I trip over my own feet and crash into a couple making out. What the hell? The light in the middle is purple, giving everything a soft glow. An air purifier along with a window open are by a smoking sign on the wall. Who buys all this? I look around, and see a familiar head of hair. I grin and run over to him where he is pressuring a girl by leaning on the wall talking to her with that smirk.
"Andrew." I say, crossing my arms under my chest. Andrew looks up with dark eyes and I smile at him. "I need to talk to you." I say. I hear Carols voice ring out behind me and I turn around to see some jock rubbing her face. I walk over, and karate chop his hand down like a pro.
"Leave her alone, you cow." I tell him and pull Carol with me. She stands at my side as the girl makes a disgusted face and leaves Andrew, a whiff of smoke comes off of her and I wrinkle my nose. I watch the girl sashay off and turn to look at Andrew.
