Chapter 38
“Cause even though you’re here
It feels like you’re a million miles away”

It seems like when something good is happening in your life something bad has to happen too! It had been five days straight since I last even heard of Jaeson, I don’t know what was going on with him or if he was still alive but he never did this before and it was getting to me. The court had pushed Peyton’s court date back to today and I just prayed that all this evidence his lawyer had they would drop the charges because I can’t live without him here.
When I arrived there I saw Peyton standing beside his lawyer in the orange jump suit and his two friends were sitting on a bench behind him in orange jump suits too and I just wanted to cry. I had Gabrielle in my arms because my mom wasn’t having it today after all of the days she chose today not to be able to watch her but whatever she was sleeping peacefully. I saw Daria sitting in with some girl beside her and she had her arms folded across her chest.
His mom and dad were sitting beside me and I glanced at them and waved as the court started. I sat staring at the judge the whole time because he was being so hard on all three of them. Great way to start off the summer.
“You had twenty pounds of cocaine in your trunk, you were in possession of marijuana, and an unregistered pistol…care to explain yourself.”
Peyton looked up and stared at the judge.
“The pistol is mine, but I wasn’t high or in possession of marijuana and cocaine.” He said plain and simple.
“Why was it in your car?”
“If I knew I would tell you myself.”
“You know I could just throw the book at you 25 to life for all of this. Do you have any evidence that the cocaine was not yours?”
“Yes sir we do, I have the phone conversation between Jaeson Davis and Tavion Garrett and during this call Tavion confesses to planting the drugs on Peyton.” His lawyer said passing the papers to him.
“Okay this doesn’t say he planted them in ‘Peyton’s’ car but he did it in ‘his’ car. This wouldn’t help I get cases like this every single day, you have three charges pending against you, why did you have an unregistered pistol?”
“I felt like I had to protect myself, my daughter and her mom because before then I had been shot and I never got around to registering it.”
