Chapter 4

*Small boys equals talking animals*

"Me and Savanna are animal rescuers of Ravenwood." she said sipping into a small clear tea cup. She put her hands together and separated them. She made a glowing, warm ball of fire. She was balancing it on her finger. "Soon I'll teach you how to do this." she said, grinning.

"So where are you guys from? You don't really look like you're from Ravenwood." I said. She snapped her fingers and put her elbows on the table and her hands on her chin. "Wanna guess?" She said excitedly. I copied her and put my hands on my chin and smiled. "Avalon?"

"Nope."

"Dragonspyre?"

"Correct!" she said, clapping her hands. "So, you guys rescue animals from the Spiral?"

Paige nodded her head as she patted Sabertooth. "And we rescued lil' Sabertooth here. Found him lost as a tiny cub in Zafaria." Savannah next to her was feeding Princess Xena. "Yup, found him in one of those dumb witch doctor caves. Bet they were gonna cast a-" but before she could finish, Paige cut her off. "Savannah!" she screeched. There was total silence. "Hey hey, sorry." she mumbled. Paige looked back up at me.

"We wanted to give Sabertooth as an offering to the Ambrose family, but the princess was missing. So we gave him to Jacobus to take care of."

"Wow, so the Ambrose family, they're related to Merle Abrose?" I asked.

"Yeah. Merle has three kids. Harold Ambrose, Moria Ambrose, and Rosa Ambrose, me and Savannah's mom."

I could hear Xena purring from the other end of the table. Paige finally drank the rest of her cup, and it dissolved into a butterfly. It carefully fluttered around, gently bouncing on air. Paige lifted her hat and the butterfly flew inside as she placed it down.

"Transportable teacups," she said, "very useful." 

Savannah sat there petting princess Xena. "My apologies if I seem to clingy with the beasts, I just love them!" she said, giving Xena a treat out of her bag.

"The beasts? I thought they were called Xenas!" I said, slapping my forehead.

"No, they have specific types. For example, this peculiar animal is a desert beast." she explained. Princess Xena sat there and said "Well, glad we all figured that out!"

Paige and Savannah giggled.

"You guys can understand her too?" I said, with a big gasp.

"Well, how do you think we rescued so many animals?" Paige squealed. "Finally Svannah, another bestie!" they both held hands again just like they did outside. I chuckled a bit. Growing up lonely wasn't very fun. "So, why are you guys here, anyways?" I asked, grinning.

"Well, we come over every day to babysit the boys." Savannah said. She leaned in and whispered, "They probably break everything while we aren't here."

Me and Paige laughed.

Paige and her sister looked a lot alike, but were different in so many ways. Paige looked like a princess, while Savannah was sloppy, and very attached to animals.

"Well, our mother is the principal of Dragonspyre Academy." Paige said, fixing her hat. "She's very strict with our relatives. We do have to babysit our cousins."

When she said that, running downstairs was Jacobus.

"Oh hey Paige!" he said, ignoring Savannah.

"Here comes lover boy." said princess Xena. Savannah stared laughing like crazy. Paige, stood there not moving one muscle. She looked like a red headed statute!

"Hello, Jacobus." Paige sighed. I could obviously tell that her cousin had a crush on her. How hilarious. Jacobus strolled past me and next to Paige. "So, I just got my Orthrus card, wanna see it?"

"Please no-" but before Paige could finish, Jacobus smacked his deck out and yelled, "Ba bam!" 

Me and Savannah started laughing like crazy, while Paige stood there, her face in her hand. "Jake, we're trying to have some girl talk. I'm talking about nails, and boys, and cute boys... I don't mean you. I mean Taylor Lautner." Savannah said, then she burst out laughing. As for me, after that whatever you call a "coversation", I had the hiccups. Jacobus ran upstairs at the thought of nails and Taylor Lautner.

Wait a minute.

Stop.

Taylor Lautner is a human.

"Isn't Taylor a human?" I said.

Paige and Savannah sat there, thinking for a minute. But I didn't know what they were thinking about. The world itself had so many beautiful things to think about.

"When me and Paige were younger, we had to sacrifice our little sister to save the mortals. she now lives very happliy in a place known as 'New York'" Paige studdered out.

I gasped in shock. "What's her name?" I yelled, pounding my fist on the spiral table. But before Paige could answer, Jake came in yelling "It's time, time time time!" 

He threw his hands in the air and stated walking in circles.
