You were in now, so the next step was to blend in. You studied the way the other women acted and mimicked them, trailing after Gai and Lee with your head down.

Clothes were something that needed to be changed, so Gai ended up wearing a dark grey and navy blue kimono, while Lee's was a light blue and sea foam green one.

In the room of the place Gai and Lee were staying, you looked at them for a moment. "I think ya look kinda cute."

Lee blushed and looked down at himself. "I still do not like it."

Gai clapped a hand on Lee's shoulder. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it! I, for one, feel fabulous." He spun in a circle, the wide legs of his pants flaring out like a skirt would.

You laughed. "You look good too, Gai."

"Of course I do."

You smiled and Lee went over to you, wrapping his arms around you. He didn't say anything. Just held you. You were wearing a slave's clothes, plain brown pants and shirt with worn, second-hand boots.

"Hey... You alright, Lee?"

"I hate this..."

"I know, baby, I know."

"I am not allowed to touch you and you cannot even sleep in the same building as me. I hate it."

Gai came over and wrapped his arms around you both. He kissed the tops of both your heads. "Don't worry kids. It'll all be fine."

"Gai, we're not kids!" You rolled your eyes. Gai rubbed his face in your hair.

"You're my kids. Now let's go."

~~~
Gai set his cup back down as the leader of the village, Alder, started a conversation. You refilled his cup and walked back into the kitchens, head down.
The second you were out of view, you straightened up and rolled your shoulders. Slave labor made your shoulders hurt.
Setting the bottle of sake back on a shelf, you stretched, yawning. One of the other girls, a pale girl with blond hair named Petal, walked up to you, barely able to meet your gaze. "H-How do you do it?" You could barely hear her quiet voice.
"Do what?"
"H-Hold your head up and n-not cower like the r-rest of us."
You blinked. "I guess I just don't care for being afraid. Besides..." You bent down and picked her up, throwing her over your shoulder. "I'm strong."
She squealed and you set her back down. After that, she followed you around like a lost puppy.
~~~
You cleaned the last plate and handed it to Petal, the shy girl drying it off and putting it away. She gently grabbed hold of your sleeve when you turned to walk away and trailed after you.

You peeked out from around the door frame, watching as Gai laughed at something Alder said. You heard the leader mention someone named Birch. People had weird names here.

Gai stood with Alder and the two shook hands. Your Sensei stood there while the other man left and you walked over to him, Petal still clinging to your sleeve and whimpering with fear when Gai turned his gaze on the two of you.

"Go on, Petal. Go back to the others." You gently unwound her fingers from the fabric of her shirt.

"Will you b-be okay?" She was shaking visibly, but your heart was warmed by the fact that she was willing to stand by you.

"I'll be fine. Now go." She turned and ran. You looked back at Gai. "So, you seem to get along with Alder."

"I hate him so much." You were shocked by the seriousness in Gai's face and tone.

"Well then."

With a huff, Gai wiped his hand on the fabric of his clothes. "I may be under orders not to physically harm anyone while we're here, but I can still hope that he falls and breaks his neck."

You giggled. "I shouldn't be laughing. Oh well. Do you know where Lee is?"

"Round back, I think. You can go take care of him, if you want."

You nodded and headed toward the back door of the house, walking out into the backyard. The bright green grass stretched out for as far as you could see, and a lake glittered blue in the distance. 'Nice view.' You thought, as you turned and headed for a small grove of sakura trees.

Lee was sitting on the ground next to a rather pretty boy with bright blue eyes, snow white hair, and skin the color of coffee. Lee looked over at you when you walked up and the love in his eyes was almost to bright to look at. You bowed at the waist. "M'lord."

He raised a hand in greeting and turned back to the boy. The boy looked between you and Lee. "You and your father do not seem to order her around much. Is there a reason?"

Lee shifted. "Well, not really. She just already does everything, you know?"

The boy nodded. "I see. Does she have a name."

"Yes. (Y/N)."

"That is very pretty." The boy looked up at you and smiled. "I'm Birch. I believe you've met my father, Alder."

You nodded. So this was Birch. Birch shifted closer to Lee, catching a sakura petal as it fell. "I really love these trees, don't you."

Lee nodded. "They are very pretty."

Birch started to gather up some of the blossoms and petals and absentmindedly strung them into a crown. He placed the pink flowers on Lee's head and smiled. "Now you're Prince of the Flowers!"

Lee laughed and put a leaf on Birch's head. "You can be my Jester."

You watched the two act like idiots. Lee was so cute, but when it came to Birch the only thing you could think was, 'Ya best get ya gay hands off my man.'
