SOMETIMES, PARK EUN HA would stay up to seven in the evening, reading books in the school library.

She found the books on medicine her father had given her in the past, dusted them off, and began to read them, actually read them, for the first time in years.

After all, she had nothing better to do.

No, not anymore.

She pictured her father from eight years back, determined to make his only child a doctor, an engineer. She'd spent her whole life defying him, only to what?

To lose her legs and have all her efforts thrown down the drain.

Some part of her wanted her father to laugh at her.

To mock her for being so incredibly stupid.

To shake his head condescendingly and tell her, "I told you so."

Anything.

Please, anything.

For she never realised how much she loved her strict, protective, absolutely stubborn father,

until she held him in her shaking arms that night in the hospital, mere hours after the accident,

and saw him die before her very eyes.
