"You better put make up on that or you'll only be bringing trouble on yourself." He retorted making Clyde throw him a sour glance. He didn't want anyone seeing his bruises especially Jace but he also didn't want any kind of make up on his face. He weighed his options though and decided on the latter half heartedly. As he had a few minutes before he left for school, he made it quick and not entirely the best he'd ever done. He knew this because he received this kind of beatings almost everyday. If he was lucky, two days would pass without him being harmed but this was not one of those days. What had happened the previous night was still partly in his mind even as much as he tried to forget. This time, he took it differently because he knew he was taking it for Jace and he swore he'd do anything for that boy.
Jace's POV
He woke up with a smile, events of what had happened the previous night freshly in mind. Yes he remembered the distinctive pair of lips on his forehead and smooth hands playing with his hair. Clyde had startled him awake when he placed him in a comfortable position but he didn't want to disappoint him so he kept his eyes shut and he decided that was the best decision he had ever made so far otherwise he wouldn't have received a goodnight kiss from the other boy. What he did to deserve Clyde, not even he knew.
He got up and started getting ready for school. It was Friday and that meant double History lessons which only meant one thing _ Clyde. The thought of seeing the guy again just made him so happy. Yes he did see him almost everyday during the tutoring lessons but it didn't change the way he felt whenever he saw him. It was a rather different feeling, none that he'd ever felt before. It was like he was seeing Clyde for the first time all over again. He just couldn't wait to see his best friend.
As usual, he was one of the first students to get to class. He took his seat and waited impatiently for the seat next to him to be occupied. Since they became best friends, they had changed sitting positions and now Clyde sat next to Jace. The teacher thought it was for Clyde's sake so as to improve his grades but he was mistaken. They mostly talked about Supernatural and told each other secrets but that doesn't mean that Clyde's grades weren't improving because they were. Jace made sure of it. He wouldn't let his best friend stray away at any cost. He remembered back to when Clyde told him that he was gay. It was probably one of his best moments. He had beamed with excitement which was cut shortly when he realised that Clyde was probably seeing somebody else but he didn't mention it. Clyde never mentioned ever seeing anyone and that's what pushed him to always keep his hopes up. Even if he didn't get Clyde all to himself, he still had him as a best friend.
His thoughts were disrupted when the boy in his mind came in, his baseball cap lowered onto his face. He took his seat but said nothing to Jace which was unusual because as soon as he got to class he'd start blabbering about the newest episode of their favourite show. He looked at the boy who hadn't even until then taken his cap off. That's odd. He thought and he was about to ask him what the problem was when the teacher walked in. Jace's love for History couldn't let him talk during the period so he shut it and decided to ask after the lesson.
It was in between during the lesson when he saw a tear fall onto Clyde's book and his breath caught in his throat. The poor boy was far from okay so he pulled out a piece of paper and wrote on it passing it to him.
Hey, are you feeling okay?
He didn't get an immediate response instead, a guy staring at the piece of paper for almost an eternity until he nudged him.
Yeah I'm fine Jace. Why shouldn't I be?
Yep he was definitely not fine. No one who was fine ever said that. In fact everyone who wasn't fine said the exact same thing.
