He walked as quietly as he could to avoid any attention. One creak of the stair was what sold him out and he closed his eyes as he clenched his fists. "Are you just getting more stupid or do you just enjoy your punishments that much?" This angered Clyde so much that he laughed. Actually laughed in his face without even acknowledging it. That was going to earn him the punishment of the century but as for then, he didn't care about what was going to happen to him. All he cared about, was Jace. He cared for him and would give anything for him even though Clyde would never ask anything from the loving boy. So even when the hit landed on his face all he concentrated on was that particular smile that lit up his whole existence. But the beatings were only the begining of what was to come next and he gritted his teeth in preparation of his nightmare. His 'uncle' was a masochist and Clyde knew that now better than anyone and as he felt his pants get ripped off, he forced himself not to scream out. Instead he focused on the only thing that made him happy, Jace, but the tears still fell down his face.
"Mummy would you please drop me and Jace at the park on your way out?" Gen asked her mum who smiled at her while placing a soft kiss on her forehead. Naturally, that meant yes. It was the way of Cindy, their mom of showing affection to her children. They meant the world to her and losing her husband just proved that fact more. "Jacey, mum is dropping us off so get your pretty face downstairs." Cindy laughed at this, every chance her little girl got, she praised her brother as much as she could. It really warmed her heart and she knew that it made Jace happy even though he always blushed saying his sister was being too much. The said boy came downstairs and true to her words, there was a slight trace of pink on his cheeks but no one paid attention to that. Gen took his hand in hers and they all went to the car. Ten minutes later, she dropped them off at their favourite park and made them promise that they'd go back home in two hours. She kissed them goodbye and then left. It was Sunday and their mum always had the late shifts which meant they'd be alone most of the night.
As usual ,Gen walked over to her small group of friends leaving Jace alone on the swings with his books. She made sure not to be so far away from him incase he needed help with anything. She would also look up from time to time to see if he was doing alright since he was always alone. This one time she almost bit a guy's hand off because he had laughed at Jace for not being able to talk back at him. From then on, he referred to her as his little warrior and she couldn't be any more prouder of herself. Jace was really trying to read his book but his mind kept on straying thinking about Clyde. How he had darted his eyes from his eyes to his lips before he bit him. That bought a smile to his lips. He also remembered those distinctive fingers in his hair and how soothing they felt. He felt ashamed of himself because he actually missed the boy and it hadn't even been more than 20 hours since he'd left. Those puppy dog eyes that would always bring him to his knees without even asking. Lord, that boy was going to be the death of him. His eyes wandered off and he happened to catch a glimpse of raven hair. At first he was just going to ignore it since anyone anywhere would have black hair but the distinctive posture gave it away. It was Clyde and he didn't look really good, even from afar anyone could see that he was limping even though it seemed as if he was trying to hide it.
But what was he doing in the park of all places if he was hurt? Jace looked over to Gen and saw that she was happily chatting with her friends and so took it upon him to go find out what was going on with Clyde. As he approached the boy, he saw the few bruises under the baseball cap and his heart beat even harder. What could possibly have happened to him? It scared him even more when he saw the pain etched on his face every time he took a step. Jace stopped him by placing his hand on his shoulder and the expression on Clyde's face when he saw Jace could only be described as horrified. He wasn't expecting to see Jace here, in fact he came here because it was the only place apart from Jace's house that he could go to. He didn't want the boy to see him like this. He had just ran away from his place without even changing his previously messed up clothes apart from his pants because the ones that he had,had been ruined. Jace didn't say anything, instead he pulled him gently into a hug. He felt Clyde cling tightly onto his sweat shirt and he knew that he was in deep pain and he needed him. Clyde suddenly pulled away when he felt someone tug on his hand only to find that it was Gen holding onto his hand. He tried to smile at her but failed and he saw the understanding in her eyes but it only made him feel even worse. What had he done to deserve such nice treatment from this people? Let's take you home Clyde. Jace signed to him and he couldn't be any more right. His home was where Jace and his precious little sister were.
