Mason decided he wasn't going to speak to Clary for the rest of the mission. "We have to be careful" Alec started. "There are eyes all over this place and everybody in the Shadow World is looking for the both of you"
"I mean, I guarantee you, no one is going to find this shortcut. I used to take it back in middle school to see Clary" She looked at Simon and smiled. Mason rolled his eyes. He know he was being bitter but he had a right to be. "You might know he Shadow World, but trust me...I know Brooklyn" And he sped off and jumped over the wall.
Clary's eyes widened and scoffed. The group started walking towards the alleyway. Mason tried to keep up ignoring Alec's help since he didn't want to seem weak in front of him. Simon was climbing and running, it was weird for him.
"Have you been doing parkour or something?" Clary asked as Simon jumped onto the ladder and climbed up. The rest soon followed climbing up after him
"You've gotten a lot better a this" Simon said to her.
"I was just going to say the same thing about you"
"Climbing a fire escape excited mundanes. "I'll never understand these people" They ignored Alec and looked across the fire escape to see runes on the walls.
"Whoa! I don't remember it like this" Clary said staring at the walls.
"These are runes and wards of protection cast by a warlock" Alec explained as they walked down the steps leading them to the outside of the loft. "Some of these have been here for years" Alec said examining them. Clary went over and touched the wall.
"The only difference is now, I can see them"
"Yo, Clary, what are all these tags?" Simon asked looking at them. Alec looked at him.
"You can see the runes?" Alec asked making Mason look over at Simon who nodded.
"Yeah, kind of hard to miss."
"For a shadowhunter, they should be invisible to most mundanes. When did you get the sight?" Alec asked walking over to him.
"I don't know" Simon said chuckling. "But whoever drew these needs lessons from Clary. Their. uh, work is pretty sloppy" Clary smiled and placed her hand on the wall.
