The party was apparently held in the school's gym. Aaron parked his car and went down while, I, on the other hand, stayed a little more hoping that he'll forget that I'm here and go to that party without me. I really don't like parties though I've never been in one. It's just that I've always been comfortable alone doing all comfortable and relaxing things to do like for instance, watching a movie. I crossed my fingers hoping that he would, but to my dismay he opened up my door and gestured me to go out. "Come on! Don't be a party pooper, it'll be fun!" He said as if it helped.
Having no choice, I stepped out of the car. As soon as I was out I can hear the music booming from the gym not too far away. I can feel the ground vibrating below my feet and it made me feel more uncomfortable. "Why am I here again?" I asked recalling why I agreed. Or did I even? "Cause your my friend and I want you to meet the world and the other people living in it." He said. I let out a sight. Well, I'm here already so I guess no backing out now. "Lets go! The music's calling out to me." He said a little louder as we neared the gym.
Twenty minutes in the party I am already exhausted. I'm not really doing anything, practically, I'm just sitting on one of the bleachers that are along the sides of the gym, to give a big enough space for the party. I put my head on my palms and just watched people go crazy. God! Where is Aaron?! I wanna go home! I am definitely not for parties. I just bowed my head in defeat then I sighed.
"Hey." I looked up. A guy was standing in front of me, I think I've seen this guys. But I can't remember... he's wearing a checkered polo and black jeans, he's holding two cups of lemonade.
"Here. You look exhausted, this will bring your energy back."
"Sorry. I don't talk to neither accept anything from strangers. So shoo." I frankly told the guy not trying to hide how uninterested I am. So much to my surprise he decided to seat beside me. "Well, you are in an acquaintance party so you must talk to strangers like me and acquaint yourself. I'm Marcus, but the way." He has a point.
"So are you gonna tell me your name?"
*sighed* well, I AM in an acquaintance party. "Raquel." I said without glancing at him. "Nice to meet you too, Raquel." He handed me the cup of lemonade again, I hesitated if I should accept it or not..."Don't worry, I'm not a bad person. I'm just trying to be nice because you look so tired. So take it. It'll make you feel better. Promise." He said. Well, he looks and sounds nice, plus, I am thirsty. I took the cup and drank it in one go. No biggie it's a small cup anyway.
I heard a chuckle beside me. "Okay! So... why are you here alone?" He asked starting a conversation. So, this is what Aaron wanted..yehey..meeting the world and the habitants of it. So I answered, trying to be sociable..key word: trying. "Err..A friend forced me to come and left me here." I put a grudge emphasis on the word 'friend'. I'm really gonna give Aaron hell when I see him.
"Haha. What a very nice friend you got there." He joked, emphasizing the 'nice' word. I chuckled a little, we will get along I know it. Marcus and I kept talking, I think we've been here for an hour, I'm not really sure, but I'm sure that I'm enjoying his company. I just found myself comfortable with his presence. I've learned a lot about Marcus like, he's a varsity in basketball, he's my age but older by months, and he is actually my classmate in biology which is why his face is familiar.
I was laughing because of a joke Marcus made when Aaron finally showed up. "Hey, Raquel." He said smiling at me then turned his face to Marcus, giving him a poker face. "Where have you been?" I asked. "Just around." He answered not breaking the eye contact with Marcus. "Let's go home." He said before turning his back. "Well, seems like your friend is in a bad mood." Marcus said smirking to the retreating figure of Aaron. "Seems like it." I said. "Anyway. I gotta go! He's my ride so..bye! See you at biology." I said chuckling. "Okay. Bye! See you haha!" I waved then followed Aaron out.
He is leaning on his car watching me as I come closer. "What?" I asked him, creeped out by his looks. She opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again and settled with, "Nothing." with what seemed like a forced smile. I looked at him confused as he ride his car.
Now...what's wrong with this guy?
