after ethan and i had eaten our pancakes, that took almost an hour to make because of ethan being clumsy, i decided to show him something that's important to me.

i intertwined our fingers and led him down the hall to the room across from mine. i opened the door, letting go of ethan's hand, and walked over to the blinds. i opened them so the sunlight could light up the small room.

ethan's eyes were wide as he walked around the room, his eyes skimming over every painting of mine on the walls.

my heart was pounding slightly as i played with my fingers. i was insecure about some of the pieces i've made. i'm not that good.

the room had a few unfinished canvases scattered around, my big box of paints and brushes sitting on the floor, along with my organized desk along the wall that had cups of colored pencils or sketch pencils and sketch books.

i watch ethan's attention leave a painting he seemed intrigued by. it was just a simple painting of a sunset along a beach. i did it a while back, maybe before college, but kept it and hung it on my wall in here.

i watched him walk over to my desk and grab one of my sketch books.

"oh, is it okay if i look?" he quickly asks. i nod with a small smile before he opens the book.

he bit his bottom lip softly as he skimmed through the pages.

"it's mostly school stuff." i tuck a strand of hair behind my ear awkwardly.

"god, you're so talented, elle. you know that, right?"

i simply shrug. i honestly didn't think much of my art. most people in some of the classes i take are so much better than me.

"princess." i hear ethan's voice, grabbing my attention and interrupting my thoughts.

"can you draw me something?"

"i guess so." i chuckle as i walk beside him, leaning onto his shoulder, "what do you want me to draw?"

he bites his lip, like he was thinking hard about something, "a rose."

"just a sketch?" i furrow my eyebrows, looking up at him.

"it doesn't have to perfect, princess. i just want it to be by you."

i nod slightly before placing my hand on the chair that was pushed under the desk. ethan noticed and moved to the side of i could pull it out.

i sat and pulled out one my sketch books, flipping to the next clean page.

i grab a pencil and slowly start to sketch a single rose. i feel ethan's harsh gaze, making me bite my lip gently.

i finished pretty quickly, and i was okay with the result. i picked out a nice pen and draw over the lines i previously sketched.

"here." i say as i carefully rip out the page and hand it to him.

he smiles down at the paper, before thanking me quietly.

he walks out of the room, making my eyebrows furrow, "where are you going?"

"i'm putting this away so i won't forget it!"

i giggle and shake my head. why would he want that so badly anyways?

i walk around the room, looking at some of my paintings. i feel ethan's arms wrap around me from behind.

"such a talented princess." he kisses my shoulder, making me giggle.

"i'm really not that good, ethan." i divert my eyes away from his.

"yes, you are, elle!" he pouts.

i simply shrug and he frowns before turning me around and pulls me into a tight hug.

"i love you, and you need to love yourself too- and your art." he says, pressing a kiss to my head.

"okay." i say quietly as i nod against his chest.

"good." he pulls away, resting his forehead on mine as i stand into my toes.
