The Joker x Reader

You walk out the door of your apartment. He's across the street sitting on a bench, watching you.
You turn and walk back inside.
"This isn't happening." You assure yourself.
You walk back out, solely because you have a job that you're already almost late for.
You walk past him, as if you hadn't noticed him.
But how could you miss him?
At the first corner you turn, there he is.
You open your mouth to speak.
"Don't say my name." He says.
"Then what do you want me to say?"
"Nothing. Take me home with you."
"You're fucking crazy. I am not crazy."
"Oh, baby, we're all crazy." He assures you, kissing your cheek. "Take me home with you."
You find yourself taking his hand and turning around.
"You're insane. No." You say, stopping at your door.
"I am." He agrees. "And let me tell you, it's well worth it. Come out of your sanity and have a bit of fun, won't you?"
"No. Leave."
"You can't refuse me."
"I can, and I will. Why have you come?"
"Why did I leave?" He counters.
"Because you loved me and you were frightened."
"That would be correct."
"Your turn. Why are you here?"
"Because I love you and I'm frightened."
"You're mad. You aren't frightened of anything."
"Nothing except myself, you see. And, of course, you." He says.
"You're freaking crazy. Go away."
"How should you know I'm crazy?" He asks with his insane smile.
"You're smiling. How can you be smiling? You're sick and twisted and--" You cut off as he kisses you.
"I'm not sick. I'm twisted." He assures you.
You touch the marks on his cheeks.
"Yes, that's exactly it." He pushes your hand away. "I need you to tell me something."
"What?"
"What happened?"
"What happened?" You ask.
"Yes. What actually happened? To me?"
"I was under the impression that you prefer your past to be multiple choice so that you can conform it to your will."
"That's correct."
"You want to remember the truth?" You ask doubtfully.
"Not exactly, but it gave me an excuse to see you, did it not?"
"You're bullshitting me."
"Of course I am. Does that change anything?"
"No." You say. "Come inside."
