"I can't believe you almost fell asleep in my dad's class." Riley says, disbelief laced in her tone as she enters her bedroom and dumps her backpack on her desk chair.

"I'm more surprised that he didn't embarrass me in front of the entire class, that seems to be a favorite pastime of his." Riley rolls her eyes at her boyfriend's comment as he follows her lead, entering her bedroom and putting his backpack down on the floor at the foot of her bed. "It's all your fault you know."

She gasps, crossing her arms across her chest. He's got one eyebrow raised and his lips are wrapped in a playful smirk and while she knows he's merely teasing her she can't help but feel slightly offended. "How on earth is you almost falling asleep in class, my fault."

"Because, you decided last night that you were gonna stay up past ten and we were texting until almost 3 in the morning." Lucas says, taking a step forward and placing a kiss on her forehead. She grins, sighing softly as his lips hit her skin, before realizing what he said.

"I still don't see how that's my fault, you didn't have to stay up and talk to me." Now she feels guilty, she wasn't exactly sure what had prompted her to stay up so late the night previous and she had been grateful to have her boyfriend to talk to, but she wouldn't have kept him up so late if she had known it would effect him the next day in school. Lucas must see her downcast face, because he immediately lifts her chin lightly with his finger and presses a small kiss to her lips. She smiles and lets her head fall against his shoulder and his arms naturally wrap around her waist.

"I know that I didn't but I wanted to, you know that I'll always want to talk to you. I'm just teasing you." His voice against her hair is soft and she can feel her eyes drifting closed. While she had managed to stay awake all day at school, now that the afternoon had settled in, all she wanted to do was curl up into bed and sleep. Her and Lucas were supposed to be working on their English project this afternoon, but it was Friday, they could probably get away with putting it off for a couple of hours.

"Sleepy." She muttered against his shoulder, nuzzling her nose against the fabric of his sweatshirt. He chuckled, pressing a kiss to her hair and tightening his grasp around her waist. "Now I know how you felt in my dad's class, I feel like I can barely keep my eyes open." Her voice was muffled by his shirt, but she could feel the vibrations of his laugh against her skin.

"We don't have to work on our project if you're not up for it." He says softly and she sighs, nodding lightly. She really did want to work on their project, it wasn't due for another week, but the sooner they got it out of the way, the more time they had to do other things, but her eyes were feeling heavier by the second.

"I'm sorry, this really is all my fault." She wasn't exactly sure what she was apologizing for, Lucas hadn't exactly sounded excited earlier to be working on their project together, claiming that he was only excited to do it because now he had a reason to be at her house for an extended period of time without being threatened by her father, but she still felt guilty.

"You have nothing to apologize for, if we tried to work on it, it would probably be not very good and I really don't need anymore reason for your dad to come after me." She lifted her head from his shoulder and rolled her eyes playfully at him, nudging him with her shoulder. "So, what do you wanna do instead, we don't have school tomorrow so we don't have to worry about homework." Grabbing her hand, he lead her to the foot of her bed, sitting down and pulling her down next to him, keeping their hands intertwined.

"I wanna sleep." Riley almost groaned, her head falling back against his shoulder, she could almost feel the apprehension in his body as she did so, which confused her. "What?" She whispered, settling her head against the crook of his neck.

"Nothing, it's just, if you fall asleep, then I probably have to leave. I don't think your dad would think too fondly of you sleeping and me just sitting here." She snorted slightly, lifting her head from his shoulder to look at him, at first she thought he might be kidding, but the look on his face showed that he certainly was not.

"You could always take a nap too, I don't think my parents will care too much about us sleeping. They know how hard you've been working with baseball and all those advanced classes you're taking, they're not gonna care if they catch us sleeping." She said, moving her hand to the back of his neck and running her fingers through the hair at the nape. Lucas smiled slightly, ducking his head, a faint blush coming to his cheeks. "Come on, I know you're just as sleepy as me, we'll just sleep for a couple of hours and then we can like get a pizza and watch a movie." She raised her eyebrow and with a nod, Lucas caved.

"Are you sure that your parents will be ok with this?" He asked as he kicked his shoes off, placing them next to his backpack and discarded jacket. "I really don't want to get into any more trouble with your dad."

"Lucas, everything will be fine, I promise. Besides, my mom usually gets home before my dad anyway and if it's really an issue she'll wake us up before he ever knows." She said, rounding her bed and standing in front of him. She lifted her arms to fold around his neck and pressed a soft kiss to his lips, smiling when he kissed her back ever so slightly. However, before she could kiss him again, a yawn overtook her and she nearly shook as it ran down her entire spin, causing a chuckle from Lucas.

"Alright sleepy head, let's get you to bed." She nodded, walking back around to the side of the bed she always slept on when Maya came over, and crawled under the covers, sighing as the warmth of the blanket sunk through her body. Lucas smiled at her before crawling into the other side. She watched him, a small smile on her face, as he tugged the collar of his sweatshirt before pulling it over his head.

"Lucas?" Her voice was soft, laced with exhaustion. He immediately directed his attention to her, smiling as soon as their eyes met. "Can I wear your sweatshirt if you're not going to?" He chuckled, before nodding. She sat up slightly and reached for it, and he helped her slip the garment over her head. She sighed happily, settling back into her bed, nuzzling her nose into the fabric. It smelled of pine and laundry detergent and the ocean, a smell so distinctly Lucas, she wanted to drown in it.

"All set?" He asked with a grin, settling into her pillows and turning so he was facing her. She nodded, a content smile on her face. Once he was settled, she curled her body into his, grabbing his hand under the blanket. He immediately reciprocated, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her into his chest. He pressed a small kiss to the top of her head and she swears that the entire world could end right now, and she wouldn't even notice.

"Luke." Lucas hummed, his own eyes falling closed and his body settling into sleep mode. "Don't ever let me stay up until three am ever again." He laughed softly, pressing another kiss to the top of her head.

"Whatever you say, Ri." He didn't get a response, the only acknowledgement of his words the small nod of her head against his chest. Soon enough, he heard the deep, heavy breathing of his girlfriend and he grinned, feeling his own eyes close and his body drift off into dreamland.
