Kee was sitting cross legged, her hand supporting her chin as she idly sat on a small slippery rock.
A small slippery rock in the ocean, that was the very top of an underwater mountain she'd discovered.
She came here to think, mainly because she knew no one would come looking for her here, and for the simple fact that she liked to be nowhere near anything resembling civilization when she got upset. It was her coping method, get away from everything.
He'd been there at dinner, she'd seen him trying to catch her eye and dutifully ignored him, instead turning her attention back to stopping Mrs Yansen from doling out pieces of venison that were undercooked.
It had been a distraction for a while, but now she was alone all she could do was think about that blasted fish boy!
She'd been happy with her life at F.I.S.T, after the end of civilization as she knew it, F.I.S.T was her only safe haven. Her only home. And she'd made it work, she'd help design and build the place and took up all the duties required of her. She'd ended up forming a life from the schedule of caring for refugees.
And he just had to show up and ruin it.
It had been great when she was ten, all she had was admiration for this strong, charismatic Atlantian who was completely willing to indulge in her awe of his skills. He'd cared deeply about her, or at least she thought he had. Until he betrayed her, and disappeared from existence, only to show up again a few years later suddenly back on the good side.
She didn't trust him at all. She didnt trust many of her previous Young Justice friends anymore.
" An odd place you've chosen to take refuge, if I may say," A casual voice commented, causing her eyes to narrow and a growl to form in her throat.
She whipped around to see him calmly treading water below her, a smirk plastered on his model face.
' Go away, I want to be left alone ' Kee signed angrily, sending a fierce glare to him.
" I think not, I seem to be rather tired and in need of a rest. Lend me a hand up will you?" Kaldur commented, a bored expression on his face.
Kee crossed her arms and turned away from him with an annoyed huff.
Kaldur chuckled, casually relaxing in the water.
" I jest, surely you can understand that," He sighed when the silence dragged on.
Kee shot him another glare.
' Do not insult me! It is you who came and ruined everything, so just leave us alone,' Kee signed crankily.
" Leave us alone, hmmmm, there is another man on the scene I presume?" Kaldur pressed, arching an eyebrow playfully.
Kee grimaced, a slightly hurt expression flashing across her features for a brief moment.
' Not unless you meant my father,' Kee signed slightly listlessly.
" Look, I did not come here to argue, Keelan, I came to talk like we used to," Kaldur murmured, pulling himself up on the rock beside her, his gaze gentle and kind, which made Kee's stomach seem to twist in to knots.
" I do not believe the is possible anymore," Kee whispered, using the power of the ocean to state the defeated statement, and gazing down at the rock beneath her sadly.
Indeed she was a pitiful sight, her brown eyes were changed, now they glowed bright yellow as if she were some crazed cat. Scars criss crossed most of her body, whilst three long claw marks transpired her entire face, making her take on a terrible appearance. Her dirty, ragged Green Lantern shirt only served to make her appear younger.
" Look, I do not expect you to listen, but let me speak," Kaldur murmured softly.
Kee shook him off, what gave him the right to deserve anything! He'd betrayed her team, caused them to fall apart and her beloved mount justice to be destroyed. He tried to kill her dad, and left her to rot in the prison cell for months before a rescue came in.
" No, I will not let you," Kee murmured, before taking to the sky, shooting straight upwards to get away from him.
