Kee shot up in to the clouds, pleading with the wind to take her as fast as it dared. She had too much emotion, she couldn't show too much emotion or she'd lose her strength. Ever since ten world fell she'd found this inner piece of herself had locked in to place, as if a long thought over puzzle was suddenly answered. So here she was, a league member by age fifteen, almost sixteen.
She hadn't given herself much chance to have emotion, instead sh'd forged forward like a good soldier, doing what needed to be done in order to help the civilians survive. It was as though that part of her took over, and her friendly, emotional Kee stayed inside until she came to her home at night, and let her emotion run free with her father by her side.
It wasn't the best coping method but it worked for her, and if it helped her do what she had to do to help them survive, then no one questioned it. She knew her father didn't like it, but he let this part of her run its course through the day.
It had been a good system in her opinion, until Kaldur showed up and broke the tenuous hold she had on her emotional self.
Could she not be stronger? She had to get over his arrival sooner rather than later, she couldn't hold a grudge forever, even if he did deserve it. That didn't mean she had to like him though. She would just have to avoid him at all costs, though she was curious as to how he'd managed to escape the hiding cell he'd been escorted to.
Bitter anger rose inside her, he should still have been there! He deserved to rot in a cell for what he did to the people she loved.
Calm, Kee, be calm. You are a queen, you must compose yourself like one. Remember you said you'd get over him being here, well you're doing a great job of it!
She didn't realize she'd stopped flying until she blinked and realize just how high up she'd gotten, the sunset looked beautiful, even if it was obscured by the rain clouds that were currently soaking her clothes. Kaldur was a tiny speck beneath her, standing on the rock she'd vacated and peering up at her. He was such a tiny speck, if only she could just see him like this all the time, a little speck.
" I really need to work on these emotions," Kee grumbled to herself, wincing at her hoarse, deep voice.
" I need to work on that as well," She grunted with distaste.
She levitated in place for a while, peering down at the ocean below, pointedly ignoring the Kaldur speck in her peripheral vision. Everything was currently calm, coordinated and right with her world, except for her soaked shirt that clung annoyingly to her.
Something moving below caught her attention, and her sharp eyes stared down at it, a snarl clawing its way up her throat when she spotted what it was.
A patrol of the Green Bandit's robotic officers. Around six in total, and they were all headed in the direction of F.I.S.T.
You see, these guys were in charge of all the patrols searching for the heroes' base. It was obvious they had one, but the villain had no idea where. So the robots were sent out, robots with increased agility and strength. They were more reliable than the villain's human help. This must have been a routine patrol searching for signs of F.I.S.T.
And they were close
Too close
Kee had to do something, they were way to close, and any wandering civilians might be seen and killed instantly, or worse, tracked back to base. And besides, she had to work off some anger anyway.
Pulling out the cloak she had packed in a small bag for emergencies, she fitted it comfortably around the shoulders, despite her uniform not being on. Pulling up the hood hid her face in shadow and now she was ready.
With a wide grin she flew down, speeding faster and faster as she went. The wind ripped through her hair, and she just knew how hard it would be to brush later on, but for now it felt amazing.
It was, however, with a pang of wariness that she realized that the place she would intercept the patrol would be directly on top of Kaldur's current resting place. She did not look forward to having him being involved in the fight, but it would test his loyalty.
" Attacker found. Elementum," The robotic voice of the patrol leader stated.
Kee bristled, anger making her eyes spark blue for a moment.
" It's Rising Storm!" Kee snapped furiously, zooming forwards.
One swipe of her hand had water shooting up towards the robots, slamming the leader off course and straight towards a startled looking Kaldur. She had a split second to dodge an incoming laser beam before being hurtled in to by another robot.
The air was knocked out of her lungs as she was sent spinning, her momentary plight caused her to lose her focus on the winds. Instantly she was dropping like a stone, crashing in to the ocean with a splash. At least the robot she'd been fighting ended up in the ocean with her, and it sparked slightly, drifting away from her under water.
She swam upwards, commanding the water to back her up, and she shot out of the water, standing on a tall wave that to her, was as solid as concrete. Rising out of the water on her wave, she caught the eye of Kaldur, who was locked in battle with his water sword.
Strangely enough, he had time to send her a jaunty salute, making her blood boil as she realized he was mocking her. Now that she had her breath back she felt like yelling a few choice words at that pathetic whelp, but a few attackers coming her way made her give up that idea.
" Nice work, Elementum, obviously what I taught you has left a lasting impression!" Kaldur called as he finally won his battle, grinning up at her as she fought.
She barely heard him, but it made her anger boil over, if she was a cartoon there'd be steam coming out from her ears!
" MY NAME IS RISINGSTORM! MAYBE THIS WILL TEACH YOU TO REMEMBER THAT!" Kee screeched, eyes blazing bright blue for a moment.
With a tremendous bang, lightning forked across the sky and thunder boomed, the sky was suddenly dark and the ocean turned dangerously, wind whipping about in a frenzy. Kee floated in place, arms outstretched as she channelled a surge of lightning in the direction of the oncoming robots, with full intentions of blasting them to smithereens.
Kaldur yelped in surprise and leapt away from the oncoming blast, leaving his opponent directly in the blast wave.
With a loud sizzle, the robots sewed up in place, electricity crackling over them, before they fell like stones, dropping in to the waters and sinking deep below.
Kee blinked, feeling the storm ebb away, and feeling absolutely exhausted, slumping in place with a small sigh. Controlling the winds seemed slightly harder now. But with a splash, her least favorite companion made himself present.
" Was it your intention to electrocute me?!" Kaldur exclaimed, a pout on his dark face.
Kee stared him straight in the face. " Yes," she murmured bluntly.
" I thought as much, but are you well? You look a tired," Kaldur commented lightly, smirking a little as Kee fought to stay aware.
" I'm fine! Just go talk to some plankton, or whatever you do when you're not wanted!" Kee snapped defensively, before she couldn't speak anymore.
With her limbs feeling like lead, she managed to send Kaldur a half hearted glare before her eye slipped closed ands gave in to sleep.
Kaldur caught her in his arms, steadying them both on the rock, amusement clear on his face as she lay in his arms.
" I may not be wanted, Keelan, but I am needed," he murmured, before sliding them both in to the water and started the swim back to shore, holding her close with utter gentleness.
