NINETEEN – Roar Of Rage [Victoria]

After I saw the first wolf, others appeared. As we tigers stared at the wolves, I became aware of how our minds worked together, how our minds easily became connected to defend ourselves against the enemy.

I knew as a fact that I had counted at least seven wolves. But with the others, I knew that there were at least sixteen wolves out there.

I moved with my pride until we got to the rock Lex had leapt up onto before and was told, in one way or another by the seven tigers to get on the rock. I was too new to fight wolves. Lusan actually told my tiger "to watch and learn" in case there was a next time.

Grumbling, I did as the tigers requested. Once I was on the rock, the Alpha wolf howled. Then the wolves attacked. I snarled as my tail flicked in annoyance at the sixteen wolves who ran towards my family. I reluctantly fought my cat who wanted to help.

Looking at those around me, I was about to pounce on the wolf who was sneaking up behind Ink. But then Ink suddenly turned and swiped at the wolf.

Thank you, came from Ink.

And that was when I realised I could help. Looking around, I shared my knowledge of what I saw with my pride. Letting them each know which wolf was where. Or I did, until I saw red where it shouldn't have been and felt physical pain coming through the bond that connected me to the others.

Letting loose a roar of rage that both my cat and I felt, I leapt of my rock, landing on the wolf that was about to hurt Lex again, clamping my mouth around the wolf's neck, I shook my head. Only once I was sure it was dead, did I drop it and go over to Lex who was on the ground, his front left leg mauled.

Vic! His voice shouted through our bond. Get back on the rock.

No.

Turning, knowing that there weren't any wolves behind me, I snarled at any wolf from the fight in front of me that dared get too close. I watched as the wolf actually gave me a second look before attacking.

He went for my jugular. I swiped with my paw, something he hadn't been ready for, and followed his fall with my teeth. Crushing his neck. The next wolf didn't even bother giving me a second look before returning to the fight he'd just left.

Feeling Lex shift back to his human form and then back to his cat, I stood over him. Knowing what the other cats in my pride were thinking. The main theme of thoughts seemed to be "not going near Alexander if he's ever injured".

The Alpha wolf seemed to catch onto his packs fear then. Looking over at me before he paused in his own attack.

As soon as I wondered what was making them fear me, a picture from one of my pride came to me.

A beautiful golden tigress standing over her mate's bloody white and black striped form. Her golden and white face streaked with blood of wolves, dripping from her chin to the floor as her fangs flashed. Her eyes said that she'd kill anyone at that moment if they came near her mate.

I let a low, warning rumble out of my throat, and the field seemed to pause.

Leave, wolf, my cat said, pushing the thoughts into the Alpha werewolf's mind.

The Alpha blinked. Looked around at his numbers to see seven dead wolves. He barked, and his wolves immediately complied with tucking their tails between their legs and running. The Alpha wolf didn't move. Just stared at me with his eerie black eyes.

I growled. He growled back, but then he left. Tail not high, nor low. But at that moment, I couldn't care less, I wanted to check on Lex. As soon as the Alpha wolf disappeared, I spun my cat to see that Lex had shifted back to human and was in the process of snapping bones back to his cat.

I growled as a red tiger took a step to come closer. I heard that the red tigers were conversing, but I ignored them.

Lex?

Remind me to never piss you off, okay?

I growled. Rubbing against him once he'd finished shifting. Checking his bad leg, I looked at Caine, the one, because of the bond I shared with Lex, I knew had medical training.

Check him, I growled. I would have laughed at how fast Caine moved to check Lex, but right now I just wanted to know if he was okay. The other tigers didn't move, just watched.

He'll be fine, Caine said. It's mostly just blood, he managed to heal the external wounds by shifting.

I growled as I smelt the blood. Licking Lex's head who purred in response.

Moving away, Lex growled in response. I huffed at him. Moving for where I heard running water.

Can we move now she's out of sight? I heard JJ ask the others.

I felt the others shrug.

I rolled my eyes, feeling Lex moving to catch up.

As the water came into sight, I nudged Lex's uninjured shoulder gently. Lex complied and walked into the water, I did the same tried to help get the drying blood off his flank, and other wolves blood off his fur.

I glanced over to the side as I felt the other tigers appear. Descending into the water to get their own blood off. It was Lusan, who'd managed to kill without getting any blood on him, who tried to lick the blood of the wolf off my face as I cleaned Lex. Lex growled at his brother, but did nothing more. Knowing that this was to clean, nothing more.

Once I'd deemed him "clean", we left the water to return to Christopher's house. Thankfully he'd left the door slightly open so that no-one had to shift back to human form to open the door.

On entering, I completely forgot the downside of shifting until it was too late and I was standing in front of several males naked.

Lex was the first to recover as he immediately shifted back and grabbed the first thing he could wrap around me while glaring and growling at his brothers. Then he growled at me.

"I forgot," I mumbled in apology.

Lex stopped me from turning to face the others as I heard a laugh from behind me.

"Aw, come on, Lex," JJ teased. "Show us your mate."

Lex snarled at him, pushing me gently towards the stairs. As we reached the room with a bed that was still leaning against the wall, Lex pulled me to him, slanting his lips forcefully against mine.

"Don't ever do that again," he growled.

"What?" I asked, dazed from his scent and kiss.

"Don't ever jump into a fight like that again."

I rolled my eyes. "I saved your ass. You should be thankful."

Lex growled, kissing me again. This time not quite so hard. "I'm sorry, thank you, don't ever do it again."

I grinned. Pulling his lips back to mine.
