"Alright, let's go with the blue gown."

Henrietta ferociously began writing things down in her small yellow notepad.

"Are you sure?" I asked, raising up my arms and staring down at my bare stomach showing. "It's kind of...skimpy."

"Nonsense!" said Henrietta, brushing me off. "You look gorgeous."

"I look like a slut."

"You and me, both" said Katie, standing on the other end of the room, with her arms raised. They were trying to take her measurements for her maid of honor gown, which I was supposed to be in charge of.

"C'mon, Katie, you're just in you're underwear."

"Yeah, and I'm freezing."

I rolled my eyes. "At least you don't have to look like a pole dancer while standing next to your fiancé and his family."

"Stop it." said Henrietta. "Both of you."

"Don't I have jurisdiction over what dress I want to wear?" I asked.

"Dear, it's my job to make you look as gorgeous as possible."

"And making me wear this will make me look gorgeous?" I asked.

Henrietta glared.

"You just insulted the future queen of Galex." said Katie, gasping, (and frankly, almost cracking up.)

"Yes madam, pardon me." Henrietta sighed. "I will go look for a new dress."

I nodded. "Thank you."

I sat down on the platform I was standing on, crossed my legs over each other and sighed.

Katie began putting on her blue satin robe and sat down on her platform just like me.

We sat in silence for a few minutes until she pipped up. "So, uh, how's it going?"

I smiled. "Great, how about you?"

Katie nodded and sat there in silence for a couple seconds until she said "You know, I may not be as close you as most sisters are, but I do know that you're not happy."

I let out a sigh of relief. "Glad you could tell, I thought I would have to act like this around you too."

"Of course, not." she said. "So, what's the matter?"

"I don't know, it's just...everything's going so fast-too fast. I can't stop anything or slow it down. Last week I was just a normal teenager, and now this week, I'm the future queen of this country! I just can't picture me as the queen of Galex!"

"Geez, I can't either!"

"I'm not a normal teenager!" I cried, throwing my arms up in the air. "In a few months, I'm going to be a Princess, and someday, The Queen!"

"You're so very lucky," said Katie "There are so many girls out there who want to be in your position."

"I know," I said, as if the whole thing sounded implausable, "But they don't realize how much my life will change. I'm going to be a completely different person by the end of the day, and there's just so much that's involved. People are going to judge, critique, critisize, and I'm going to be thrown around everywhere! I'm going to be the new face of the country, and I'm only eighteen!"

"Well," said Katie, running her fingers through her dyed-blonde hair "that's what happens when you go from normal to royal."

"I suppose." I said, crossing my legs over my dress. Henrietta walked in with a white garment bag, and place it on the hanger rack.

"Try this." she said. "It's in style, very flattering, and classy." she stated as though my choice of style was 'wrong.'

She left the room and I quickly stood up and walked over to the garment bag and unzipped it. Inside, there was a the gown of my dreams.

It was navy blue, with a knee-length skirt, and a sweetheart neck line. The back of it was zipped up to the tops of my shoulder blades, the sleeves barely capped my shoulders, and the dress was made of polyester, cotton  and spandex.

Katie' s jaw dropped. "That's so gorgeous!"

"I know." I said. I slipped it on. For once, I felt like a princess. For once, I felt beautiful.

For once, things were starting to go okay.
