"Maria, it's gotta be soon," said Caleb over the phone. I was standing at the bus stop at the corner of the street, with my sister sitting on the curb applying dark shades of eyeshadow.
"I know." I sulked. "I just don't know when."
"I talked to my mom, and she said that within two weeks we have to come forth."
Two weeks?! I only have two more weeks of freedom? Perhaps if I dumped him...
"No." I told myself, not realizing I said it out loud. I would NEVER dump him.
"What?" Caleb asked, confused.
"Um, nothing, I was talking to Katie." I said.
"Alright, I've got to get to my French lesson." Caleb explained. " 'Je t' aime'!"
"What does that mean?"
"It means, 'I love you'."
"Hah, I love you too, Caleb."
I pressed End Call, just as the bus made its way down the street. It slowly came to a stop at the red stop sign, then opened its rusty old doors.
Katie and I were the second stop, so we had plenty of seats to choose from. In that sense, we really never sat with each other.
Except for today.
"Katie!" I called as she was about to plop down next to her friend, Casey. She looked back and I gave her the eye.
Katie sighed, rolled her eyes, then sat two seats behind Casey.
I plopped down next to her. I needed to ask her something.
"Katie," I said "I need to ask you something important."
"Yeah, yeah, I already know, you don't want me at your wedding, I understand."
"What, no!" I said. "why would you think that?"
Katie sighed. "Well, considering the fact that you and I are like polar opposites-"
"No." I said. "Not really, just because your into more of a...gothic looks, doesn't mean that we still don't have things in common."
"Like what?" she asked.
"Well, we both love Rock music, we both love the color blue, we both have a secret obsession over a certain Gaylex pop star..."
Katie smirked. "John Paul Franklin is pretty hot."
"And we both are sister, so as you can see we have stuff in common. Now, I'm pretty sure you know that, so why did you say such a thing?"
Katie rolled her dark-eyelined, blue eyes again. She wore contacts, and swore to never wear glasses again, unless she was moping around the house for God knows why.
"I dunno." she said. "It's just that, well, everyone loves you because you're the future princess of this country! I'm just...the other one. The girl with the white blonde hair, and the black attire."
"Katie, do you remember when Kate Middleton married the Prince of England?"
Katie nodded.
"Do you know who her sister is?"
"Pippa Middleton?"
"Correct." I said. "She's quite famous, only because her sister is Kate Middleton."
"I'm not looking for fame." Katie said, shaking her head.
Well, that's another thing we have in common.
"I just don't want to be forgotten."
Katie, you're such clueless, clueless, child.
"I promise you." I said. "That you will not be forgotten."
"Allright, I'll take your word for it." she said. "Now, what was it you were going to ask me?"
"I was wondering." I began "If you would be my maid of honor at the wedding."
"Really?" She asked "You want me?"
"Yes." I said. "I think you're the best person to do it."
"I'll do it!" she said
"Yay!" I cried, giving her a hug. "Thank you!"
"Thank you." she said. "Thanks for caring."
"I always will." I responded. "You'll never be forgotten."
