After dinner, Carson and I went to our room.
"Do you believe her?" I asked.
Carson shrugged, "I don't know, they both are acting weird. I mean, Sherry was strange and miss Oaks is always such a bi-"
"Carson," I stopped him.
"Sorry," he looked at the floor, "night."
"Goodnight," I replied and we both went to bed.
It was the next day and Carson and I waited for Sherry. I was nervous and Carson look scared. I grabbed his hand and smiled at him and then the door opened.
"Hello Bri. Hello Carson," Sherry stood there looking at us with a smirk. Carson and I half smiled. She grabbed our bags and took them to the car.
"Carson, Bri," Carson and I turned around to find Miss Oaks standing there. "Good luck. I really am sorry about this. When you get there, remember, try to escape. Find any house you can. If she catches you, do anything you can to either escape or kill her, call the cops anything you can do to save yourselves. Be careful," She nodded her head and walked away. Carson looked at me.
"I'm scared," I said.
"Don't worry. Everything will be okay. As long as we're together things will be okay," he said hugging me. I just smiled and with that we walked out of the prison. We got in the car and I looked out the window.
This is it. No more prison, no more Miss Oaks, and no going back. As we drove away, I stared back at the foster care. My heart started to beat faster and I started to think, what if this is a bad thing? What if Carson and I are in danger? What if Miss Oaks was telling the truth? What if Carson and I die? What if it's worse than the foster care? I looked at Carson and he was asleep and then I looked at Sherry. Her eyes looked dark. Too dark. I looked closer and then she looked at me. I quickly looked away.
"May I help you?" she asked.
"N-no," I stuttered. My mouth started to get dry and I gulped.
"Whatever Miss Oaks told you, its not true. She's a liar," its like she read my mind or something.
I just turned away looking out the window. The radio started to get fuzzy. It got louder and louder. I put my hands over my ears and screamed out, "what's happening?" She just smiled and hummed a song. Carson woke up and just stared ahead. "Carson!" I shook him but he didn't look at me. "Carson!" I screamed. I kept shaking him but the fuzzy radio kept getting louder.
"Aren't you going to do something?" I screamed at her
"Why? It's peaceful," she smirked.
"What the heck? What's going on? Make it stop!"
I woke up and looked around. I must have fell asleep in her car because Carson was looking at me as if I just murdered someone. I realized I was sweating.
"Are you alright dear?" Sherry asked. I just gulped and then nodded.
We arrived at her house. It was pretty big. The outside looked kind of old and a little worn out. The trees were tall, creepy looking, and had no leaves on them at all. The house itself was loosing its color and the siding was getting torn off. Some spots on the house were missing siding as well. There wasn't very many windows. Maybe about five windows throughout the whole house.
"You ready?" Sherry smiled.
Carson and I just looked at each other. We slowly got out of the car. There were no cars driving down the road, nobody walking, and no houses besides this one. We walked inside and it was dark. It wasn't decorated well either and the house was set up differently. There was an upstairs and I think a basement because a door at the end of hall was there. The kitchen was small but the living room was quite large. There was a leather sofa with ripped patches on it, a bear rug, and a television that was also big. There were wooden floors that were really creeky and very odd pictures on the walls.
"Your rooms are upstairs," she handed our luggage to us. We took them and went upstairs. There were only two rooms so I'm guessing we have to share a room. We walked to the first room and it was locked. We tried the next room and the door opened. Carson stepped in front of me and walked in. I followed in after him and looked around. This room did not feel right.
