He started grabbing our things and I just stood there staring at the door in confusion.

"Bri," I felt hands shake me.

I turned around to face Carson.

"Carson, its our first day here and you want to leave already?" I asked. I will admit I was a little scared but it was our first day here!

"Did you not just see what happened?! There was blood on the floor and she locked us in here! Maybe Miss Oaks was telling the truth! If we don't leave now, thinks will only get worse!" he whisper-screamed.

I thought about what he said, "fine," I grabbed my bag and he nodded his head.

"We'll escape out the widow and run from there until we see a house or store or whatever," he whispered.

I nodded and we both walked to the window. The door slowly opened making a sqeak.

"Do you really think I can't hear you?" Sherry stood there crossing her arms.

Carson pulled me behind him and spoke, "please, what do you want from us?"

"Nothing," she stepped in the room and closed the door behind her.

"What are you doing?" Carson walked us closer to the window, backing away from her.

"I just want to have a little fun," she smirked.

Neithe Carson or I spoke nor did anything.  She walked closer to us and my heart began to beat faster and faster.

"Why are you scared? Your heart is racing," she stepped closer to me and I turned away.

"Leave her alone," Carson said.

"Oh, shut up you piece of s***," she spat.

I flinched at that word. I hate curse words. Sherry saw me flinch.

"Oh, I'm sorry, do you not like curse words?" She looked at me.

"Let go, please?" I soflty spoke, my voice shaky.

"But you just got here," she said, "don't you want to have fun? Have fun with your new mother?" She smirked when she said mother.

"You will NEVER be my mother!" I screamed at her.

She stared at me and grabbed my arm.

"Let her go!" Carson ran after us.

I tried to pull her hand off my arm but she just grabbed tighter onto my arm.

"Ouch!" I yelled.

"You do not disrespect me young lady!" she yelled and dragged me down the hall toward the stairs. Carson pulled my arm trying to get me free but Sherry looked at him and threw him across the hall.  He hit his head on a vase which shattered on him.  He wasn't moving.

"Carson!" I screamed.  "Let me go! He could be dead!" She just kept dragging me down the stairs.

"Stop! Ow!" I screamed in pain.

"You ugly rat. Go to time out until morning," and with that, she threw me into a pitch black room and locked the door.

"No! Let me out! Please! Help!" I screamed, banging on the door. I then sat down on the floor, pulling my knees up to my chest, hugging them. I began to cry, wishing this was just a bad dream. I got up to find a light switch. I finally found one and I turned it on. Then I screamed at the top of my lungs in full terror.
