Powered Down

"That's the last of them." Speedy pointed out. "Okay team, this needs to go as smoothly as possible. We have to get all the guards distracted so none of them will go after Adena while she fries the system. Cyborg you there?" Robin tapped his new earpiece. "Yea man, once the system over heats it will weaken the system just enough for me to override the weapons control and the Tameranians will have their powers back." Cyborg's voice filled Robin's ear. "Here, everyone take one. Cyborg, you will now be able to communicate with everyone."  Robin handed out earpieces. "Robin, you better hurry dude Starfire doesn't look so good." Cyborg said worriedly. "Is there any way for you to see into the control room?" Robin asked him. "Hardly, I can see outlines." Cyborg answered. "Where are guards in the room?" Speedy asked. "Two at the door, three posted at each uncovered wall, and two at every control panel. A total of twenty." Cyborg said slowly. "We can rush'em they won't know what hit them." Beast Bot suggested. "No, we need to find a way to surprise them then let Adena in." Robin told him. "Guys, the door is locked and if you bust it down that ruins your element of surprise." Cyborg pointed out. "If only we were small enough to get in and unlock the door then we could rush in." After the words came from Adena's mouth everyone looked at Beast Boy.

  "Cy, how do I unlock the door can you see in here?" Beast Boy asked in a squeaky fly voice. "I can't, you're going to have to listen carefully." Cyborg told him. "We're screwed." Adena joked. Robin gave her a look and she tried to stifle a laugh. "It's going to be next to the wiring circuit board. I am familiar with control panels. If you cut the right wire the doors should all unlock. It's gonna be the double helix silver wire." He tried to explain. "English." Beast Boy pushed. "The silver twisty wire." Cyborg huffed. "There's two of those." Beast Boy told him. "Oh no." Robin muttered. "The one to unlock the doors will have the more translucent look to it. Cut the wrong wire and our surprise is blown." Cyborg warned. Beast Boy sighed and swallowed hard. "Rae?" He whispered. "I-...we trust you." She assured him. He closed his eyes and cut the wire close to him. Dark.

The lights flickered back on. "What in the..!" A gemeron called out. "The doors, they seemed to have a short sir." Another called. Without another word Robin burst through the door and launched himself toward the leader. Raven slammed two guards into the control panels, Beast Boy jumped from under the controls and tackled a guard as a gorilla, and Speedy shot arrows as fast as he could. Adena stood in the cleared area of the room and concentrated. "Hey, that girl is giving off heat signatures! Get her out of here!" A soldier of the Gemeron army called out. Speedy shot an arrow at him in anger. "Adena now!" Robin called out. Flames swallowed her fists, her eyes shut, and a single tear ran down her face. Speedy looked at her and knew what he had to do. He ran to her and stood in front of her. "Get back!" She yelled with her eyes shut and the noise of the other battles rang sharply in her ears. "Adena, it's okay." Speedy whispered to her. "Please Speedy I don't wanna.." She started. "You won't." He interrupted. He touched her shoulder and let go. Adena's hands opened beside her and her eyes opened to a bright red glow. The room was filled with a sharp heat. Robin looked at Adena with a smile. She did it. Adena offered back a weak smile and crumpled to the floor. "Adena!" Speedy gasped and fell to her aid. "Our system crashed!" The soldier yelled. "Kill her." Their commander said eerily. Speedy put himself over Adena hurriedly. "You will not!" A powerful feminine voice rang out. "Starfire!" Robin exclaimed. Starfire regained her strength when the system powered down along with all other Tameranians. At the door her eyes glowed green along with her fists. "Get her out of here." Robin whispered to Speedy. Speedy nodded and scooped Adena in his arms still at his knees. "Try and make a diversion so Speedy can get Adena to safety." Cyborg's voice came in over the earpieces. Beast Boy shape shifted into a bull and charged for the nearest Gemeron soldier. Starfire flew directly for the commanding soldier and hit him hard. She sent him flying toward a back wall. Robin took out his staff and went after two soldiers by the control panel. Raven put her powers over Adena and Speedy to lower them to the floor below them. "Get Adena out! These guys go for revenge." Cyborg came over the earpieces again. Adena was still unconscious as Speedy bolted down the stairs to find the exit. "Poor little Princess. Involving herself in a war she knows nothing about." The commander taunted her as he got to his feet. "This is my planet. This is my war." Her voice was powerful and strong. "You have no clue what you're even fighting for."
