Y/n PoV

I hear shuffling beside me. What the hell?! It's like 3 am!!!! Oh no. Now there's panting and whispering.

I turn around, to find Jack apparently having a nightmare.
There was a troubled look on his face.

From the words he was mumbling, I could only recognise one. My name.

Jack PoV

I was running from the guards, chasing me with torches. Y/n' hand in mine. She was panting and coughing the smoke getting into her lungs.

She had trouble keeping up.

They caught her. I felt what I never wanted to feel. Her hand slipped from mine.

She reached for me. I couldn't reach her. I had to keep running.

I shot up screaming "Y/N!"

Y/n PoV

He shot up screaming my name. His eyes frantically searched the room for me.

His gaze finally landed on me and he pulled me into a passionate kiss. After he pulled away, he rested his forehead on mine and whispered/whimpered my name.

"Shhhh Jacky. I'm here. It's okay. I'm here." I tried to soothe him.

I grab his hand, and instantly Jack clutches it like his life depended on it.

His watery gaze meets my e/c eyes. He brushes his other hand through my h/c hair.

"Never let go. I'll slow down if you need me to. Never let go..."
He whispered the last few words, broken.

I cup his cheek and turn his face to me. I kiss him, saying "I will never let go. I promise. Now, darling please, go to sleep. I'll be here when you wake up. I won't leave you." I kiss his forehead.

"Goodnight."

"G'night"

We fell asleep, Jack still holding my hand.

I kept my promise. I was there the next day and every day since.
