Chapter 1: We're Not Like The Rest

  My name is Luna Waters...

And I'm not your normal teenage girl.

Not because of the freakishly stupid name I have but because...

"What did you do Karol?" the teacher, Mr. Ray, screamed at my fellow classmate when her experiment was caught on fire

Karol was on the verge of peeing herself and crying since she never gets something wrong "I-I d-don't know, I-I-I followed your instructions s-sir," she stuttered

Mr. Ray ran to the back of the class room and into the supply room to grab the extinguisher. When he ran back, with the extinguisher in hand, he stopped dead on his track since the experiment looked like it was never caught on fire.

Everyone stared at the experiment with dumbfounded faces probably asking themselves what the hell happened.

Their expressions were priceless but Mr. Ray’s expression was ten times priceless because he looked all shaky and sweaty from running.

I was on the verge of doubling over to laugh my ass off with their expressions but bit my tongue to not do so.

Mr. Ray snapped out of it and said "Well students, back to work!" while wiping his forehead with the back of his hand.

So, if you didn't catch up, I control: earth, water, air and fire. Awesome, right?

I live in a foster home so I really don't know how I got these... abilities. Maybe if I lived with my parents I would know or maybe I wouldn't.

I don't know if I'm the only seventeen year old person in the world who can control all four living necessities (also called as elements, but I like to make it sound as something more awesome) but I'm sure as hell ain't complaining.

I think it started around the time I turned ten. My foster mom was trying to light up the birthday candle but to no success. I grew tired of it because I wanted cake so bad, so I concentrated on the candle and with a small move of my hand it lit.

Everyone in the house had the same expression as everyone in the experiment incident at the school, but they didn't put so much thought into it like the kids at my school did.

I think that was the major topic at the school for like, a month. Everywhere you walked, everywhere you sit, even in the bathroom, people were talking about it. I even heard some girls saying that it was a ghost that it's haunting the school.

  Pathetic much?

Going back to when I found I had these abilities... later on, I practically practiced every day. At the beginning it was tricky, frustrating and tiring as hell but then I turned into a pro.

Okay, maybe not a pro but I got the hang of it.

My high school life is good. Not popular good but I have a good amount of friends and people know me. None of my friends know about my abilities, I've thought about telling them but then I remembered they talk about each other behind their backs. Maybe I can talk about it with Caleb and Charlie. Yes, both who I call my real best friends are boys and both names start with the letter C. I really don't like to befriend a lot of girls since they are a handful. And maybe you are thinking 'but you're a girl', but I just feel more like myself when I'm with Caleb and Charlie.
