Chapter 2: Weird Enconters, Smart Comebacks, Prepared...

After what I felt yesterday at the library, I basically panicked and ran away from the library. I am, in fact, a scaredy cat. Strange thing is, I felt a presence with me all day. When I had gone into the cafeteria, I sat in the middle between Caleb and Charlie.

Charlie was quiet during the time and it was weird since he's always talking. Caleb would be Caleb so he wouldn't shut up. So, I didn't give it to much thought about how Charlie was so quiet.

It's eight-thirty in the morning and I'm ready to punch a wall because I am thirty minutes late for school. Thanks to Kayla and her oh-so-precious time in the bathroom. I swear that girl hates me with so much passion.

When I reached the front door to leave for school, Elena stopped me...

"Lina!" I turned around and saw the four year old running towards me

I bent down and grabbed her, starting to tickle her. She laughed and kicked and pushed with her little arms and legs. I couldn't help but smile at her cuteness. How could someone abandon this cute person?

I put her down and I crouched to be at her same height "What's up cutey?" I said with a big smile

She started playing with the hem of her shirt, she always does that when she's about to ask me something "Would you stay?" she looked at me with her big emerald green eyes and pouted lips

She was giving me her famous puppy dog eyes that worked every time, I was about to cave in and tell her I would stay when my foster dad came into view

"No she will not stay Elena, she has to go to school, later on in the future, you'll be the same," he said sternly

I rolled my eyes and looked at Elena with a smile "I promise when I get home, I'll play with you all day and night, okay?" I promised her and when her emerald eyes sparkle and nodded, I opened my arms wide and she hugged me with all the strength she had

My foster dad cleared his throat as to tell me to get the hell out, and I did. Not before giving her a big kiss in her cheek and her forehead.

On my way to school I look at my surrounding and noticed the grass was all brown. I wanted to put my abilities to good use but not when there were too many people around. I decided to just ignore the grass and put on my headphones until I get to school.

When I reached the school gates, I took off my headphones and stuffed them in my backpack. I opened the gates and closed my eyes when it made a loud noise. I cursed in my head and went straight to the classroom, when I was about to knock the door, bell sounded and everyone was getting out of their current class.

Great, I missed my first class. I blame small people for this

When I started walking towards the direction of my other class, Caleb appeared in front of me "So, what do we have here? Miss I-don't-care-to-come-to-school-at-time," he said while wiggling his eyebrows

I laughed and kept walking but he was walking right beside me "It's not my fault," I looked at Caleb and he stared at me with his raised eyebrows "Ok, it was. But I didn't miss anything important, did I?"

He snorted "Yeah, you missed Charlie's fight," he informed me

I stopped dead on my tracks "Whose fight?"

Caleb turned around when he noticed I wasn't beside him anymore and walked towards me "Oh yeah, I don't know what came over him, one minute we were talking and then the next I see him throwing some kid to the ground," he explained like it was something that happens frequently
