when I woke up, I was cold. Damian was no longer beside me, the bathroom door was closed and I could hear the shower running. judging by the horrible singing coming from in there, I guessed that he wouldn't be coming out anytime soon.

I sat up and sleepily rubbed my eyes. with a groan I rolled out of bed and walked to the dresser, I had been staying in Damian's room, even though there was a guest room down the hall.

I pulled out a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, Damians T-shirt. I listened carefully one more time. Yep, His horrible singing was still there.

I took off my pajamas from last night and put on my clothes.

I heard a sharp intake of breath, Damian was standing in the bathroom doorway, I hadn't noticed him getting out of the shower. He was in nothing but a pair of shorts.

Me, I was in nothing but jeans and a bra. He quickly turned around saying sorry on repeat. My cheeks burned and I knew that my face must have been as red as a tomato.

I hurriedly slipped on the T-shirt.

"It's ok to look now." I said, my voice just above a whisper.

He slowly turned around. I looked at his eyes and saw embarrassment, and.... something I couldn't describe. we just stood there staring at each other, trying to figure the other out. He was the one to break the silence.

"we had better get down to the kitchen, mom hates waiting. She made breakfast."

I nodded and walked out of the room without a word.

when i walked into the kitchen, Damian's mom was standing there tapping her foot on the floor.

"well, took you long enough to get here, but I guess its better late than never. You're lucky the food didn't get cold."

she talked like she was angry, but I knew that she was really happy. for some reason, she liked me here.

I hadn't noticed the door at the back of the kitchen until Damian's mom opened it. I followed her and found myself in a beautiful Dining room. along the edge of the table where three plates so full of food, I didn't even know where to start.

It was like heaven on a plate.

Anna gestured toward the chair near the middle of the table. I took that as my cue to start eating.

Anna was a wonderful cook, I savored every bite. she reached across the table and handed me a stack of papers.

"whats this?" I asked.

"they're for school tomorrow. all I changed was your last name and birth certificate information. you had outstanding test scores this year, so I hope you don't mind going back to school one grade ahead of where you where. that way you'll be in the same grade as Damian."

She handed Damian a similar stack of papers.

"I filled yours out too."

I looked down and read the top of the papers in my hand

My name was Alicia Young. I was 17. I shared a house with my brother Damian.

Anna filled out my papers as if I was her own daughter. I felt myself tear up.

"whats wrong?" I heard Damian's voice come from behind me, I hadn't even noticed that he had moved from his seat.

I wiped my eyes.

"nothing."

I finished the last of my breakfast and made my way to the guest room. there where bags on the floor and on the bed. Anna had bought me clothes and even some personalized furniture for the guest room. she told me that if I wanted it to be, it could be my room.
