You know how they say that high school is supposed to be the best four years of your life? Well, they lied. I mean, ya you see cute guys all the time but let's be real, besides seeing your friends for five days and eight hours straight, who willingly wakes up in the morning to go to classes that you fall asleep in, or to write them long ass college papers? No one, that's who. So, when I had to wake up this morning to go to NOLA Rose High School, you can imagine what kind of conversation Jesus and I had this morning.
*BEEP BEEP BEEP..*
"Mmmm.." I mumbled hitting my alarm clock. Reluctantly, I got up and shuffled my way into the bathroom. Unlike some people in the magazines and on tv, I don't wake up looking like Kelly Rowland. I'm pretty sure I look more along the lines of a dead corpse with the breathe to go along with it. Ew. I turend the shower on and waited a couple minutes for it to warm up.
Today was the day. First day of Senior year. Am I excited? No. The only time I will ever be excited for school is the day I walk across that stage and never look back. My best friend, Michelle, and I plan on leaving as soon as they hand us those diplomas. Fuck walking across the stage, Imma hit that dougie and throw in a lil Ooo kill'em, throw up the peace sign to Pac and get in my car and speed off into the sunset.
I finally was able to get in the shower and wash my hair and when I got out, I had to sit down for a minute. It was hot as hell in that bathroom. When I actually decided to get up, it was 6:30 and I walked to my closet to get out the outfit I had picked especially for today. A purple crop top shirt with high waist blue jeans and my studded purple, leather heels with a jean jacket. Just because I don't like school doesn't mean I can't look good right? Well, as good as I can look with a boyfriend like mine. I mean, I'm already taking a risk wearing a crop top shirt knowing his ass gonna make a fit out of it. Oh well.
I got dressed and fluffed out my curly hair and headed downstairs to eat breakfast. My mom was already in the kitchen cooking pancakes and eggs with bacon, so I took a seat and dug in.
"You ready for your first day back as a senior, baby girl?" My mom asked, with amusement in her eyes. She of all people know how much I hate school and the hoes that attend.
"Hell no. I hate them teachers and the niggas and bitches that go there. I'm thanking the Lord this is my last year." I said with a mouth full of eggs. My mama threw the towel that was on her shoulder at me and it landed on my head.
"Girl, if you don't watch your language in my house! Now, you better hurry up 'cause Michelle called and said she would be here at 7:30 and it's-" she looked up at the clock on the wall. "7:28, so you better hurry up."
Never in my life have I ever ran so fast in heels to go back in my room, grab my purse, and unplug my phone from the charger and spray on perfume. I ran past my mom and ran into my dad, trying to get out the door.
"You just gon' leave without giving your daddy a kiss? You better act like I gave birth to you." My daddy laughed, and pulled me into a hug.
"Sorry daddy, I'm in a rush!" I kissed him on the cheek before turning around to leave. "Oh, and you didn't give birth to me, mama did!" I yelled as I walked out the door.
"Ya, but I helped in the process of getting you on this earth, lil girl!" He shouted back, chuckling.
I closed the door to the house and found Michelle applying lipstick to her already blood red lips. I opened the car door and slide in, buckling myself in. Safety first, especially with the way this girl be driving.
"Well, goodmorning to yo ass, too." She said, closing the visor and starting the car up.
"You looked a lil busy to me, but goodmorning Chelly." I laughed as we made our way to NOLA Rose. "Anyway," she started, rolling her neck.
"Matt told me to tell you that him and Trey plan on taking us out after school today."
"Are we going straight after school or.."
"No, they gonna pick us up at my house at four, so that gives us enough time to get ready." She explained.
"Oh." Was all I said. In all honesty, I didn't want to go. Trey and I have been drifting apart for a while now. He might not think anything of it, but I do. Everybody and they mama know he's been cheating on me, and it's not only him, it's Matt, too. Michelle acted like she didn't know, but I knew she did. In our school, we are the 'it' couples. Trey and I have been together since freshman year, whereas Michelle and Matt have been together since sophomore year. For the first two years of our relationship, it was amazing and so was Trey. He treated me like his queen and never even glanced at another chick. But, things change and it's obvious he only keeps me around as arm candy, or in other words, he doesn't want another guy to have me.
We pulled at the school and did our daily routine which actually just involved us getting out the car 2 seconds apart and closing the door at the exact same time. It got us the attention we wanted as we strutted inside the building. We waited in line to get our schedules and headed to our lockers, and anyone can guess what was standing right in front of me. Trey, Matt, and a bunch of their friends with groupies hanging on to their every word.
"Uhum." Michelle coughed, causing everyone to turn our way. The groupies even had the nerve to give us stank looks. The fuck? I was about to say something, but lucky for them, Matt beat me to it.
"Alright y'all, let the wifey's through." Matt said. They all walked passed us with their nose turned up like they all high and mighty.
"What's up lil mama?"
"Hey, baby." Michelle smiled walking up to her man, as he pulled her in by the waist." She my girl, but it still pissed me off that she acted that way with him, knowing all he was doing.
"Anika." Trey called my name, and I turned his way rolling my eyes at him.
"Trey." I said walking over to him with my arms crossed. He grabbed me by my waist and gave me a side hug, kissing me on my cheek.
"Can you move? I need to get to my locker." He gave me a 'you better act right around my boys' look, but I could care less. I didn't see his name on my birth certificate.
Right as I opened my locker, I felt someone close to me. "Get your shit together. You better act like you got some damn sense." Trey whispered in my ear. I closed my locker and turned to the group.
"We'll be back y'all." I took Trey's hand and walked away to talk privately while they shouted 'Ohhh get some Trey'.
"What?" He asked as I stopped in front of an empty classroom.
"Fuck you and your cheating ways, Trey. Don't tell me what to do, 'cause you ain't my daddy."
He snatched me up by my arm and pulled me in close. "Look, you already know what it is. You know you my main and them other girls is hoes so I don't know why the hell you tripping." People were passing by so he put his arms around me to make it look like he was embracing me in a hug. "Don't you ever try some shit like that in front of my crew, or it's gon' be me and you. Got it?"
I pushed him back and walked away. "Fuck you!" I yelled.
Before I could even get far he pulled me back in. "And wear a shirt like that shit again I will beat yo ass. I don't know who the fuck you think you are walking out the house like that."
"Whatever." I couldn't stop the tears from running down my face. What a way to start off the school year.
