-6 Months Later-
The day Trey and I made up a couple months ago was complete bliss, but the best part was that night. He picked me up from my house, dressed in a black tux, and took me out to a restaurant. Not only did he not get on his phone or answer it when it rang, he focused on me. After we ate, we went back to his place, watched movies, went up to his room, and well, let me just say. The lord blessed him! Of course, we used protection, but that did nothing to take away the feel of him. The love we made that night was amazing, and since then, everything has been perfect. Especially last night, damn.
We have had a couple arguments, but nothing major. I feel just like I did the first day that we met.
Now, fast forward a couple months and here I am with Michelle, getting ready for one of the biggest and happiest days of our lives. Graduation.
It would be such an understatement to say that I'm beyond happy to get out of that hell-hole.
"Girls, y'all ready?" My mom yelled from downstairs.
"Yes ma'am! We'll be down in a minute!" I shouted from my room. I turned back to face my mirror and straightened my gown. I looked a whole hell of a lot better than what I did this morning. I was a little sick from what I'm guessing was the food I ate last night.
"We look amazing. Party tonight at Zack's still, right?" Michelle asked. I wanted to say no, but it was probably the last time I would see everyone I had become friends with over the past four years. The last time Zack invited me to his party, I didn't even show up because Trey was still tripping over that whole situation.
"Ya, I'll go. Wouldn't miss it." I said, grabbing my purse and square academic hat. "Ready?"
"Beyond it. Let's go." We walked outside to the car, but was stopped by our parents.
"Okay, we need to take pictures. Pose for the camera!" Mrs. Walters, Michelle's mom said, gushing with happiness. She took about a hundred pictures before we were able to leave, then our moms cried reminiscing on our childhoods spent together.
"We're here!" I have never seen my dad move so fast in his life! He and Mr. Walters jumped out of the car and literally ran into the school to get to their seats, while Michelle and I tried to fast walk in our heels to where all the graduates were waiting.
"Anika! Michelle! Wait up!" We whipped around to find Zack walking toward us. "You're both still coming to my party, right?"
"We are. What time? Right after graduation?" Michelle asked.
"It's at nine after we graduate at my place like usual. You look really great, Anika." He looked me up and down.
"Thank you, I'm sure Trey's gonna think the same thing when he see's me, too." I smiled.
"Ouch, shot down again," he laughed. "One day, ma. One day you won't reject me and when that day com-"
"When that day comes, hell will freeze over and Imma kick your ass. Simple as that." Trey spoke, walking up with Matt in tow.
"Trey, I was just telling your girlfriend here how gorgeous her and Michelle look. Their looks have never been hard on the eyes."
"Ya, well thanks white boy. Now, if you'll excuse us," Matt stepped in front of Zack staring him down. "We'd like to be alone."
"Of course." Zac held his hands up in surrender. "Bye ladies."
When he left, I turned to Trey and slipped into his arms, but not without a kiss.
"Well, that's one way to say hello to your gorgeous boyfriend slash soon to be fiancé, slash soon to be husband, slash soon to be father of your kids." Trey laughed and pecked me again.
"Man, why you gotta always upstage shit? I think you like making me look bad in front my woman." Matt joked, punching Trey in the arm.
"Step up your game then, son. I stay on my Romeo shit."
"Alright, Casanova. They calling for us to get in place. We'll see y'all in a bit." It's finally time, I thought to myself. No more high school. I'm officially a woman after today.
"No good-bye kiss?" Trey asked, catching me before I walked away.
"Nah, you good." I grabbed Michelle's arm and took my place in the front of the line.
"...these hoes ain't loyal.." Chris Brown blasted through the speakers as I walked into the party. It was already jumping by the time I got there and most people were wasted. I would've came sooner, but of course the parents wanted to take me and Michelle out for a nice dinner. I was itching to leave. I was so tired of hearing child hood stories.
"Where do you think the guys are?" Michelle asked me as we walked into the kitchen were the drinks were.
"Not sure, Tremaine said they were here." I looked around and spotted Zack talking to some of his football buddies. "Zac should know." I strolled over to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Anika! Baby! You made it!!" He was clearly drunk. "I knew y-you would leave Trey for m-m-me."
"Actually, I was wondering where he was. Did you see him or Matt?"
"Ya I did! They walked in together! I was dancing with this girl and she left me when she seen you weren't with them." He frowned.
I was getting a little impatient. "Well, do you know where he is now?"
He scratched his head before he started smiling like a light bulb just went off in his head. "Ya! After they came in, Matt w-went and left to get drinks out of the kitchen. The girl gave Trey a drink and he was wasted before me! They went upstairs!"
Went upstairs? "Anika, maybe it's the alcohol talking. Zack's not thinking straight and-"
I pushed her out of the way and made my way up the stairs. I had to step over and under couples that scattered themselves everywhere, practically having sex on the floor. I leaned against the first door I came across and pressed my ear against it. Moaning.
I burst open the door and the guy stopped mid-stroke and looked up at me. "Hey! Get out!" Okay, so that wasn't Trey, but a closer look had me seeing his partner in crime, Matt.
"Matt what the fuck! Who's this slut!? Is this what you do when we aren't together?!" I didn't even realize Michelle was right behind me, and I felt my heart break for her.
"Chelly! Baby! Heyyyyy." He slurred.
"Matt, where's Trey?" I asked.
"Oh Trey? He's with Anika in the next room! Oh, wait! You are Anika!" I ran out of there with my heart pounding. I grabbed the handle of the door praying to God that my thoughts were wrong. I slowly opened it and heard the bed banging against the wall. When I walked in, I stopped feeling. I was numb. I couldn't even feel my heart shatter into a million pieces. There he was, having sex with LaToya, the school's biggest slut, and she was loving every minute of it. I left out of the room and gently closed it, so they wouldn't be interrupted.
"Was t-that him?" Michelle asked me, unsure of the answer by the look on my face.
"Ya, that was him. Let's go." So there, the most cliché way to end what was supposed to be the best day of my life. Heartbroken.
