Runaway Trapped

Chapter 16

Violet's POV

I wait for someone to say something, but I don't hear anything only faint breathing if use my acute were wolf hearing.

I look down at the phone to see the call still going. Shrugging I end the call and start walking towards the living room again to finish the movie.

Not even three steps later the phone rings. Heart rate picking up a little I answer the phone.

"Hello..." I say unsurely into the phone. I hear snickering.

"You remember me don't you Violet?" He asks and my heart drops because he knows my name. I can't recognize the voice though.

"N- no who are you?" I ask as my heart pounds quickly against my chest.

"Why don't you come outside and find out sweetheart?" He says sweetly and I freeze. Tears brim my eyes as I think of dying tonight.

"Don't make me come in there Violet..." He trailed off and I looked around shutting the curtains to the kitchen window.

"You forgot to lock one window.." He says and hangs up. I panic and mind link Derek quickly.

Derek I don't know what to do someone's out side the house, I say frantically.

Who's outside Violet calm down, he says back

I don't fucking know but he knows I forgot to lock one of the windows, I cry out.

I'm on my way Violet stay with me. Go into the room next to ours, he soothes.

I listen to him running up the stairs almost tripping, but recovering. Wiping away the tears I get to the room.

Okay I'm here, I tell him.

Alright lock the door but don't the lights on make sure the window is locked and then hide in the closet., he orders.

I quickly do as he says.

I'm so scared Derek please hurry, I urge him.

I'm almost there baby don't worry, he says.

He knew my name Derek, I say panicky.

Don't think about that calm your breathing and stay where you are. Be as quiet as possible. Did you recognize the voice?, he asks.

No I think I should but I just don't know, I say frustratingly.

Alright I'm at the house. No matter what stay where you are and be quiet. I'm coming for you babe., he tells me calmly.

Okay I love you Derek, I say shakily.

I love you to, he says before cutting the connection.

I stiffly sit in the floor in the closet trying my best to calm myself. It's not working though. My wolf is going crazy and I feel like I'm about to just pass out from how scared I am.

It's dead quiet and all I can do is look at darkness. Hugging my knees to my chest I shake uncontrollably. I'm gonna die is all I can think to myself.

His voice repeatedly echoes in my head as I wait in the dead silence. Soon I hear footsteps at the door. They break it open and run over to the closet.

I look up as it opens prepared to scream when I see it's only Derek. I jump up into his arms letting out loud sobs.

"Shhhh it's ok" Derek soothes me rubbing a hand through my hair softly. He carries me into our room and turns on the light. Closing our door he comes over and holds me again.

I felt so safe in his arms and was beyond ecstatic now that he was here. I grip his shirt tightly shutting my eyes and inhaling his scent.

Soon my sobs fade and turn into hiccups. Wiping my eyes he plays with my hair to relax me further.

"He's not here anymore?" I ask Derek who shakes his head.

"Nope and my brother is sleeping downstairs along with some other of our best hunters around the house. You're going to be safe." He soothes me making me sigh in relief.

I nod my head as sleepiness takes over me quickly. Laying down Derek turns off the light, but turns the tv on for me. He makes sure the door and window are locked and the room is secure along with the closet and bathroom.

I hug him tightly. He did this all just for me. Derek keeps me tightly in his arms as we both fell asleep that night.

I smile as I feel a hand rubbing through my hair softly. Opening my eyes I meet Derek's blue eyes.

Reaching a hand up I grab his cheek. Pulling him to me I kiss him passionately. He moves towards me kissing back.

I pull away and hop out of the bed. I throw on a pair of running shorts and a sports bra.

"Hey you up for a run?" I ask Derek.

He nods getting up and putting on so basketball shorts.

On our way out the door I noticed a rose sitting on the window sill of the living room window. I freeze and go over to it. Reaching out my shaking hand I push on the window and it opens....

That was the window I forgot to lock.
