Breath.

I told my self sucking in a breath.

Concentrate.

Aim.

I fixed my eye on the target.

Release.

It all happened in slow motion. I let the arrow slide from my fingers and fly right through my components arrow, splitting it in half, through the center of the wooden target. Lodging itself in the tree behind it.

I smiled at my accomplishment and turned to my shocked opposer.

"Well?", I asked impatiently.

"Ok, ok, fine!", Haldir lifted his hands up in surrender. "You win!"

I laughed and swung my arm around his shoulder. "Well, I'm starving! Let's get some food", I offered. He just laughed and we walked side by side to the dinning hall.

Me and Haldir had been so close for so long, I considered him my brother. And me, his sister. Of course, we never had a real relationship, then it would be awkward. And he felt the same way.

After dinner, we said our 'Goodnight's' and I went off to my room. Once I got there, I changed into my light blue, silky, nightgown.

After I brushed through my long golden hair, I put it up in its usual sleep style. When I finished, I heard a knock at the door. Curious, as to who it was, I got up and opened the door.

"My Lady Evelyn, your mother, Lady Galadriel, requests your presence in the garden. She says it is important.", the timid maiden said.

"Alright, thank you.", I dismissed her and bid her goodnight.

She gave me a thankful smile and said", Thank you, my Lady, I have never been treated with such kindness. Not many people have respect towards me", she smiled.

"What? Why would anyone treat you differently?", I questioned.

She sighed and then took off her bonnet. Her hair was bright red, and very curly. That is very odd for an elf to have red hair, let alone, curly. She then took of her shoes and her height became very short. But she was an elf, none the less. She still had pointed ears and a flawless face. Sparkling blues eyes and elegant hands.

"I still don't see the problem, they do not know what they are saying.", I reassured her.

Her eyes reflected her gratitude towards me.

"Thank you, my Lady.", she said, putting her shoes and bonnet back on.

"You are ever so welcome. Now, I must be going. If what you say is true, then I must be in the gardens. Am I correct?", I asked.

"Yes, my Lady", she said. "Thank you", I said.

After, she turned and left, I paced my way to the gardens. It was a beautiful night. The stars sparkle with unknown tales and story's. The moon shines brightly, bright enough you can see your own shadow. My eyes twinkle in wonder as I try to imagine what it would be like to be the moon. Seeing many lives of men and adventures of great disguise.

Sighing loudly to myself, I break my thoughts and continue on to look for mother. I come to a stair case. As I look at the walls, I notice the ripply pattern of water reflecting a beautiful blue.

"Evelyn, come. I must speak with you.", I turn to see my mother standing by The Mirror. She motioned me to sit down on the bench as she walked over herself and sat down next to me.

"My daughter, I must speak with you about an urgent calling that I wish for you to answer.", she said. Her voice quite serious.

"But before we speak of that, I must tell you something. You are different from others. You are an elf, but you are an elf with great power.", wait, what?

"I'm sorry, mother, but I'm afraid I don't understand.", I said.

"All will come to make sense by the end of the night. Have patience, my child.",she answered.

"As my daughter, you know of how I can sense things, speak to one through thought, and the gift of great knowledge. Your Father, possesses the gift of combat and is skillful with many weapons. Together, it was bound that our heir would have one or the other. There are other elves who have guardians of great power, and themselves have one or the other. Only one or the other.",she stressed 'only'.

"Never before has a child had both, except one. Only one elf has the gift of possessing both traits.",she stared intensely at me.

I held my breath, having a pretty good idea on who it was."You, my child, is that one who possesses both. It is both a blessing and a curse. You have the ability to fight, my dear. But that is not some ordinary skill you have. You can conjure great strength, your skill with a sword is flawless, throwing knives by your hand guarantee direct and perfect hit, an opponent is easily defeated in hand to hand combat, and as for archery, you can never miss.",as she said this, my eyes widened in complete and utter shock.

"Now that is only in combat. You also have gifts such as mine. Though, you are not yet ready to embrace that gift. You must be trained to control and summon. There was a prophecy, long ago, that me and your father have wanted to keep you from. But, I am afraid you must be told now. For a old yet very powerful darkness is returning to middle earth.",I had no idea what she was talking about but I had a feeling that this was going to change everything. Mother told me of how the rings were made, and Sauron, the ring of power, and about the war, and how Sauron was defeated.

"My child, you must understand that the same evil is returning.",she said.

"But, what does that have to do with me?", I asked. Her deep blue eyes looked into my bright golden ones. I suddenly understood.

"You want me to defeat Sauron.",I gasped. She nodded her head sadly.

"There is to be a meeting held at Rivendalle", she explained. "You must attend and go on this journey to destroy the ring of Sauron, once and for all.",she said.

I looked down at my hands, unsure of what to say, I was also afraid. I had never killed any thing before and I didn't plan on it but I know I had to do what is right. My mother lifted up my chin with her finger, staring straight into me. Her expression softened and she smiled gently.

"I love you, My dear Evelyn. With all my heart. And you know that.",she spoke softly. "You must do this for your people, for middle earth, for your father... For me.", my eyes began to get watery. "I love you too, mother.", I began to cry softly, with my head lying gently against her chest.

She stroked my hair and hummed an old elvish lullaby to me. After my tears dried, I was very tired I knew I wasn't even going to make it to my room, even if I tried.

So, she summoned Haldir, and he carried me of to bed. Once my head hit the pillow I feel into a deep dreamless sleep.
