My jaw drops. My mother- a demi-god? Not possible! "But sir, how is she a demi-god? I mean, she's a professor and she had me."Chiron nods. "Yes, she is a demi-god. Now, this may explain why you're here," my stomach drops. So, I guess I'll never know who my father is after all."But you smell too powerful just to be a granddaughter of Athena. Your mother had you with an Olympian God, my dear."

"Any idea on who it might be?"I ask. I really wanted to know why he left, and if he was an Olympian God, then I'd at least understand why. But if he wasn't, I'd just be pissed. Chiron looks to the pouring rain and sighs."From my and Mr. D's speculations, Hermes. But we don't know for sure. If your mother had you with Hermes, you'd have more of a... special look to you."

Everything goes quiet after he says that. I have absolutely nothing to say, and neither does Grover. I almost sigh in relief when Percy walks back outside. "Well?"Chiron asks. Percy slumps down in a chair next to Grover."She said I would retrieve what was stolen."A smile comes across Grover's face as he eats a Diet Coke. "That's great!"

"What did the Oracle say exactly?"Chiron asked. "This is very important."Percy looks a little distraught, but he tells us,"She...she said I would go west and face a god who has turned. I would retrieve what was stolen and see it safely returned."Grover nods."I knew it,"

But Chiron still didn't look satisfied."Anything else?" Percy looked more than a little distraught this time... "No,"he said."That's about it."He's lying. I can tell whenever he lies. I can tell when other people lie sometimes, but you just have to notice the little things. Like micro expressions. "Very well, Percy. But know this: the Oracle's words often have double meanings. Don't dwell on them too much. The truth is not always clear until events come to pass,"

I got the feeling that Chiron also knew that Percy was keeping something back."Okay,"Percy says."So where do I go? Who's the god in the west?"I lean back in my chair, waiting for the answer. But I think it's Hades."Ah, think,Percy,"Chiron eggs on. "If Zeus and Poseidon weaken each other in a who, who stands to gain?"My assumptions were correct.

They discuss it for a little while, until Percy gets the answer right. They then discuss why the Fury and the hellhound went after him. Yeesh, I'd hate to be a daughter of a major god like Zeus or Poseidon... too many monsters to dodge.'The harder the task, the more you gain in the end.' I sit upright in my chair, making everyone look at me. Damn voices."Sorry," I say, then sit back down.

"But a quest..."Grover mumbled,"I mean, couldn't the master bolt be in some place like Maine? Maine's very nice this time of year."I roll my eyes."Hades sent a minion to steal the master bolt,"Chiron insisted."He hid it in the Underworld, knowing full well that Zeus would blame Poseidon. I don't pretend to understand the Lord of the Dead's motives perfectly, or why he chose this time to start a war, but one thing is certain. Percy must go to the Underworld, find the master bolt, and reveal the truth."

Grover started to tremble and eat pinochle cards like it's his lifeline. "Look, if we know it's Hades, why can't we just tell the other gods?Zeus or Poseidon could go down to the underworld and bust some heads."I shake my head."Percy, you can't just automatically blame Hades. You suspect him, but you don't entirely know that it's him. Besides, gods can't cross each other's territories except when they're invited or steal their symbol of power."Gosh, I'm suddenly really glad that I was so interested in Greek Mythology as a kid.

Chiron nods."Ms. Dawn is right, Percy. Heroes, on the other hand, have certain privileges. They can to anywhere, challenge anyone, as long as they're bold enough and strong enough to do it. No god can be held responsible for a hero's actions. Why do you think the gods always operate through humans?"

"You're saying I'm being used."Percy states."I'm saying it's no accident Poseidon has claimed you now. It's a very risky gamble, but he's in a desperate situation. He needs you."I almost want to chuckle. Hey, I claimed you, but now you have to clear my name. What a wonderful family.

"You've known I was Poseidon's son all along, haven't you?"Percy asks."I had my suspicions. As I said... I've spoken to the Oracle, too."Just like Percy, I have the feeling that Chiron isn't telling us everything. "So let me get this straight; I'm supposed to go to the Underworld and confront the Lord of the Dead."

"Check,"Chiron said."And get back to Olympus before the summer solstice, in ten days."Percy says."That's about right," Chiron replies, as if they're having a normal conversation and not one about Gods and Goddesses of Greek Mythology. Percy turns to Grover, who gulped down the ace of hearts. I grunt madly, making Grover whimper.

"Did I mention that Maine is very nice this time of year?"He asked weakly."You don't have to go,"Percy said, his voice reassuring."I can't ask that of you," he then turns to me."Either of you."I shake my head. "A promise is a promise, bro. You can't get rid of me that easily." Percy's lower lip twitches into a soft smile.

"Oh..."Grover shifts his hooves."No... it's just that satyrs and underground places... well..."Grover took a deep breath and stood up, brushing the shredded cards and aluminum bits off his T-shirt."You saved my life, Percy. If... if you're serious about wanting me along, I won't let you down."

Percy smiled lightly, then turned to me."Perce, I was in the moment Chiron announced that you had a quest. Now, if you don't want me along-"

"Shut up, Daphne. Of course you can come."Percy said, a full blown smile on his face."Besides, I can't let you face the Lord of the Dead all by yourself,"

"Great," Chiron said."Now we need another person to accompany you," suddenly, the air behind Chiron shimmered. Annabeth stood there, now visible to us. She stuffed her Yankees cap into her back pocket. "I've been waiting a long time for a quest, seaweed brain,"she said.

"Athena is not fan of Poseidon, but if you're going to save the world, I'm the best person to keep you from messing up."I frowned. If anybody was going to keep him from messing up the entire fate of the world, it was me. Granted the fact that we usually get in more trouble together, but it's still me, not this blondie who he met recently.

"If you do say so yourself,"Percy replied."I suppose you have a plan, wise girl?"Annabeth's cheeks then turned a rosy colour."Do you want my help or not?" As much as I was agitated by her, we did need her help. "A quad," he said."That'll work."

"Excellent. This afternoon, we can take you as far as the bus terminal in Manhattan. After that, you are on your own."Chiron instructed. Lightning flashed again. The rain poured harder, making the outline of everything hazy."No time to waste," Chiron said," I think you should all get packing."

Yeah, yeah, I know. Three is a lucky number for the Greeks. But... MY FANFICTION MY WAY. Oh well. I hope you like it anyways.
