Rachel's POV
My eyes flashed open. I felt normal which was weird.
I smelled bacon. I went downstairs and followed the smell of freshly fried bacon. Nina was frying it up in the kitchen.
I wanted to ignore her for hiding things from me. Until now she hasn't said anything. Well basically it's partially my fault, I keep on blacking out.
She turned to me and smiled but anger conquered in me, making me ignore her. I went to the dining area upstairs and waited for breakfast to be served.
Everyone glanced at me or so I thought. I felt heavy breathing behind me so I turned around and found Mr. Hotty Wolfy behind me, topless.
He ignored me and sat down. My lip twitched from the awkwardness.
"Are you alright now, Rache?" Merlia asked taking a bite of her salad.
Mermaids are somewhat vegetarians, eating meat would make them sick. Well except for seafood, they love that. Obviously.
"Yeah, how long was I out? What happened to me?"
"Three days, Rache. You just screamed then blacked out," Damon answered.
I dropped my fork and looked at them, assuring if they're bluffing. They didn't flinch. I was out for three days?!
"Don't worry Rache, you're fine now."
Michael went in and hovered a few feet from the table. He glanced at me, smirking.
"So, Nina, care to tell your bestfriend?" he uttered.
"Tell her what?" Nina asked nervously back.
I put down my utensils and rest my chin on my palm, looking at them with annoyance. I felt mixed emotions rise up again.
"Do tell," I sneered.
The atmosphere around me became heavier with every breath of hesitation Nina took. Everyone, including me stopped eating and anticipated for her upcoming words.
I've always knew that deep inside something was up. Whenever I ask about my parents they hesitated before saying something. They've always told me that my parents were abroad working for money for me.
Never did I thought I was an orphan because everything they've said seem so real.
"Rache, we don't know who your biological parents are neither do we know about your real history."
My brows knitted together.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
She took a deep breath before answering.
"When I was 13, we found you at our porch; unconscious, pale and almost lifeless. We nursed you until the sun came up. We left you for minutes, when we came back you were healthy as ever but still unconscious so we sent you to the hospital. We looked through every record, archive, everything for information about you but we never found anything. It's like you never existed in the world. The doctors told us nothing was wrong with you so, we brought you home."
"You woke up five days later, within those five days of your slumber my parents decided to forge papers for who you are. Everything in your birth certificate down to the stories they've told you about your family, everything was just made up. Please Rachel, I'm sorry. I didn't want to lie to you. I really wanted a sister back then. You came and my parents just loved you instantly. We grew up together, you're practically my sister. I've always been afraid of the day that you'd know the truth and I didn't want it."
