hwasa's povas the dismissal bell rang throughout the whole school, students began filing out of the class in a disorderly manner. shoutings were heard across the corridors, the pelting of raindrops never dampening their excitement.
as for me, it did.
for the umpteenth time, i glared at the downcast weather. menacing looking dark clouds filled the sky, looming ahead like a heavy curtain. streaks of lightning scratched the sky, threatening to tear it apart. the wind howled with a fierce low growl as rain pounded on the windows. trees bowed their crowns and stooped their branches as torrents of fresh water droplets continued pattering down with no mercy. raindrops were dancing on the roads and roofs of cars, screeching tyres and blaring hornings of cars constantly bombarded the silence beyond the bawling of the sky.
neither of them made my day better. if anything, it only dragged my mood down further. i sighed, blaming my forgetfulness. i did not bring an umbrella with me today, despite countless reminders from my mother. gloomily, i watched with a heavy heart as kids streamed out of school while chattering to their friends.
"no umbrella?" a familiar voice broke my train of thoughts.
my savior.
i shook my head. i felt wheein tugging my hand gently. obliging grudgingly, i watched as her petite figure took her umbrella out. she said no words; she knew i was always grumpy on rainy days.
with wheein's umbrella over our heads, we headed out of school. her cold hand reached out to lace our fingers together, emitting warmth from the contact. i shivered slightly from the brief sensation. a comforting silence soon settled over us. we could only hear the squelching sounds of the water in our shoes.
"be careful!" wheein pulled me closer to her yet again as i failed to dodge small puddles, which were gathered all over the place, obstructing the path. keeping my sight on the floor for more puddles to avoid, i felt a smile creeping onto my face.
as we approached my house, she reluctantly let go of me. with her puppy face, she pouted and mouthed "see you in school tomorrow. remember to dress warmly." i nodded at her sentence, my heart spiked at her concern hanging loosely in her voice.
wheein taught me something today;
it feels good when she cares for me.
