hwasa's pov

my eyes were on keres. for the past hour, he had been sighing and throwing random objects at his table partner. judging by how his eyes trailed across the class to find a victim to pick on, i knew i was going to be a target. it did not help that it was miss venus's lesson.

"class, who knows the answer to this question?" miss venus's boring voice drawled. keres let out a purposeful groan. with a lazy smile, he threw miss venus a wicked smile and suggested, "miss venus, i think hwasa knows the answer to that." he turned around to look at me, eyes full of mock. i had that irresistible urge to wipe that smug expression off his face.

he continued, "well hwasa, what is the answer to that? i can't hear you! oh i've forgotten, hwasa is mute. fat pig can't even breathe."

i heard soft chuckles bouncing off the walls of the classroom. miss venus's face clearly showed she enjoying how keres taunted me. it was beyond embarrassing. i decided to play it cool instead, and fazed a calm exterior, pretending i heard nothing. much to my surprise, a loud screeching sound of chair reverberated throughout the class.

wheein stood up, her face expressionless. she threw a fake, sweet smile at keres.

"says the one who got a legendary zero mark for a simple test on chemical equations? you did worse than someone who you claim as mute? what an achievement. how good do you think you are? who do you think you are?" wheein paused for a second, letting out a mirthless laughter, " sorry, my bad - i've forgotten that keres can't count. oh, poor boy. what's the point of criticizing someone you think is fat when you can't count calories?"

the class remained silent. wheein wasn't one who would speak up in class to answer questions. the silent rage bubbling inside of wheein could be felt by the whole class. the atmosphere was electrifying, yet she oozed of calmness. taken aback with wheein's harsh but honest words, keres's cheeks were scarred red. but it was true; it truly was an acheivement, not a good one though. there had never been a student who ever gotten zero mark for a chemical equation test - it was the simplest segment that was the basic to learning chemistry.

wheein turned to miss venus; with a low voice and glowering stare, she rasped, "and i wonder how the goddess of love thinks. i don't even want to know for clearly, she owns no wisdom. i've never seen a teacher enjoying to observe a student bullied so much. much courage i must say, huh?"

though wheein had tried to keep her volume down, the whole class still heard the clear words spoken by wheein. everyone was shaking their heads in disapproval at miss venus. some even averted their gaze from her.

once wheein was done, she sat down again. no words, no emotions. just still. i wrapped my arms around her waist tightly, taking in her strawberry scent. i could see a small smile forming on the end of her lips.

"wheein ah..." i started, hesitating but continued anyway, "thank you."
"it's nothing." she replied.
"because i'm hyejin right? about that day, i'm really sorry for that. i didn't mean to hurt your feelings ah wheein..."
"because you're special. i can't stay mad at you for long, you know that. you're forgiven." wheein let out a smile.
"what if you get into trouble? won't you regret what you did?"
"hwasa, i'll do anything for you."

wheein ah... thank you for everything.

a/n: the next time i hear ANYONE calling hwasa "fAT"; i swear my middle finger will come flying in your direction.
