i was up since dawn in the morning; my nightmare of failing my music exam woke me. after that, i could not settle and fall back into sleep so i lay awake on my bed till the sun rose.

it did not help that wheein was not around; i've searched for her in the classroom, along the stretches of lockers, near the toilet, out in the quadrangle; she was just missing.

i glanced at my watch. 15 minutes to it.

sighing, i quickened my pace to reach the examination venue. fumbling about for my pencil in my bag, my fingers unintentionally grasped onto a small note. i pulled it out and unfolded the paper, a smile making its way to my lips as i read it.

"hyejin yah, all the best for your music exam today!
you have practiced hard so don't panic okay?
i'll find you after your exam, got caught up in something heheh.
until then, remember that small wheein is here cheering for you!
i'm sure you'll do well ^~^

unknowingly, a wave of rebounded energy surged through my body. feeling this sudden refreshment, i stepped into the room with confidence, greeting the teacher that was grading me today. as soon as my hand hit the first key on the piano, the rest of my body instantly responded to it as if it was first nature. with wheein's message in mind, i managed to successfully finish my exam with a smile on my face.

as promised in her note, as soon as i stepped out of the room, wheein greeted me with a crashing hug. before i could grab my bag, she beat me to it; her small, cherry mouth releasing elated shrieks. i shook my head; how was wheein was happier than me when i was the one taking the exam?

"wheein yahhh, why are you so happy?"
"you finished your music exam!"
"what's so exciting about that?"
"that means we have more time together, right?"

wheein's eyes were big and round, dancing with sparkles and fireworks. her face reflected the luminous rays of sunlight, genuine joy radiating from her smile. pure delight spread through her spring of light steps, my favorite dimple adorned at the side of her cheeks.

how could someone be this ravishing?

i waited for wheein to calm down first before linking her arm with mine. a warm - too warm sensation shot through my arms the moment we touched. alarmed, i stopped dead in my tracks, spinning wheein around to face me. her head tilted to a side, she let out a dorky grin. she whispered something that i couldn't catch, but i noticed something i previously did not. her face was flushed with paleness, her lips holding a shade of crimson red. it wasn't lipstick. i reached out to feel her forehead, flinching as the hot temperature stung my skin.

"why did you come to school when you are sick? let's quickly go home!"
"hyejinnie, how can i not come when i know you are going to panic before the exam? of course i have to come and support you."
"but you are sick!"
"it's okay, i'll get well soon!"
"tsk wheein, you're a pabo."
"i'm your pabo."

wheein ah... i have never been this touched in my life.
