Sincere

I stood in the door frame of me and Effrin's room as I watched him change Victoria. It had been past her bed time but since the two of us had been up most of the night entertaining company, she was just now getting to bed around three o'clock, aside from her many naps throughout the day. "I really appreciate you helping out Marcus for me." I stood there waiting on him to say something but he only picked Victoria up and laid her in her bassinet that was next to the bed. "Did you hear me," I asked him.

He turned around from Victoria's bassinet and shushed me. "Are you stupid or nah? I just got her to sleep. Shut the hell up," he whispered, pulling his shirt over his head. He turned off the lights and climbed into the bed.

"Bastard," I mumble,d trying to climb into bed next to him but I knew he wasn't going to let me. "What?" I folded my arms. It was three o'clock in the morning, all I wanted to do was go to sleep.

"You can't sleep in here."

"I'm not leaving my baby in here all night with some man," I replied.

As soon as I said that he quickly sat up. "I'm not just some man Sincere. What'chu think I'm gon' do to my daughter?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "I know what men like you are capable of and I don't want her up in here with you, especially if I'm not going to be in here."

He smacked his lips. "You know what, you get your ass in this bed but know by the time tomorrow night comes you won't be sleeping in this bed no more."

"Fine with me," I replied, climbing into the bed.

I pulled the covers around my body and turned over but he pulled some of the cover back. "Could I get some fucking cover? Damn," he mumbled, trying to wrap up in the cover but it was being pulled off of me. Nothing like this has ever happened to us before since the two of us are always sleeping in the middle of the bed spooning, but seeing as though we're not in the best of moods, we don't want to be anywhere near each other. We're both trying to sleep on the very edge of the bed, balled up in the covers that weren't stretching that far.

I rolled my eyes and ended up scooting a little bit closer to him, so we could stop acting childish, fighting over cover plus I didn't want Victoria to wake up from us arguing. I cuddled closer to the cover around my body and quickly drifted off to sleep, exhausted from the previous day.

It had only been three weeks prior to today that Granny had caught me on what I had been hiding for the past month and a half. Once I had gotten my tattoo of Effrin's name, I had been sure to wear shirts that covered up my collar bone but for some reason today I didn't. I don't know why I was so stupid but I had on a tank top that revealed everything and she was livid by what she saw. Cursing and calling Effrin every name in the book, she wanted me to get rid of it.

"Granny I can't get rid of it! And what's so bad about it? It's my body," I explained.

"I know it's your body but I raised you better than to mark it up with ridiculous words."

I looked away from her, rolling my eyes because I knew if she had seen me she would have given me them hands. "Look, I'm 18 and I graduated from high school a few months ago. It's my body and if I want to get something else on it I will."

Now, this time, she rolled her eyes at me. "You will not."

I sighed and stood up from my seat on the couch. "I'm going upstairs, I'm done with this conversation."

I was on my way upstairs when she grabbed a hold of my elbow, pulling me back with so much force that I've never seen before. I looked down at her grasp and snatched my elbow away from her. "This conversation isn't over until I say it's over. Now, just because you're 18 doesn't mean shit to me. As long as you're living under my roof, you're going to obey my rules."
