City Streets In Fall
City streets in fall
One and only, one and all
Leaves - crackle, tumble 'cross the squares of rough concrete
City streets in fall
People bustle, mind their business
Cold faces tucked into their collars 'gainst the sleet
City streets in fall
Hats, coats, and scarves cover all
The smell of soup and woodstove fires drifting through the rigid air
City streets in fall
Hands are tucked inside their pockets
And the sounds of rushing cars and buses don't really seem to care
City streets in fall
Decorated orange and red and yellow
Pumpkins, leaves, lights and jackets make a beautiful collage
City streets in fall
One and only, one and all
What a beautiful collection gathered right outside my window in a wonderful mirage.
