Shit!!! It's HER!
Elle's eyes narrowed as soon as she saw me. I could tell by the look in her eye that she was not happy to see me.
"Of course...its you. Who else would pull this kind of childish stunt?" she asked sarcastically while pointing at the top she was wearing.
I looked at it and I had to admit she had a right to be mad. It was pure white and I don't know if it was coffee or soda she had been drinking but whatever it was had left a huge brown stain on her front and it was still spreading
"It wasn't a stunt. It was an accident. I didn't mean to-"
She cut me off. "Accident? Puh-lease," she said rolling her eyes. "You and I both know that you've had a problem with me ever since freshmen year. This-" she pointed at herself, "is one of your many ways of showing that you hate me."
"I don't hate-"
I got cut off again. "Of course I don't blame you for having a problem with me, I mean-" she flipped her auburn hair, "I'm the girl everyone hates but secretly wants to be. So why blame you for being envious of me? But really Alex, these kind of childish antics have got to stop. It makes you look pathetic."
She gave a dry laugh and looked at me as if daring me to say something. I couldn't speak, my mouth was dry and my whole body was shaking. I wasn't afraid, don't misinterpret my body language...I was mad. What kind of pedestal did she sit upon that made her believe it gave her the right to look down on me?!
I opened my mouth to throw a comeback in her face when I was interrupted once again...but it wasn't Elle this time. It was Nick.
He cleared his throat. "Is something going on here?" he asked. He looked at me pointedly and gave me a look that said 'is she bothering you?'
Elle noticed the look and quickly changed her expression to that of someone pained. "Oh Nick, it was awful! You should have seen what she did to me!"
Nick cocked an eyebrow and a confused look crossed his face. "What Alex did to you?"
"Yes! Look at me!" She pointed at herself and looked up at Nick. "This top is super expensive and now it's ruined thanks to her." She pointed at me.
"I'm pretty sure it was an accident Elle." said Nick.
Elle snorted(not a very lady-like sound to make), "Accident my ass." she mumbled.
"What?" asked Nick. He didn't catch what she said.
"Nothing." She quickly covered up. "So Nick," she said, batting her eyelashes at him. "I was thinking maybe the both of us could hang out a bit this summer...we could even start right now. If you're not busy, we could go get some ice cream or something, what do you think?" She said, in a sweet-as-pie voice.
I could tell that Nick was not a fan of that idea but he was so polite that he didn't have it in him to say no and crush her dreams. "Wow, umm...that's not a really bad idea. Umm ice cream in a weather like this, that's not so bad but uh are you sure you won't be busy though?" He asked, a lame way to stall for time.
"No of course not. I'm always available when it comes to you, Nick." I almost gagged. That was so...so flirty.
Nick was becoming uncomfortable. "Umm that's uh great, I guess. But-"
"Can we leave?" I interrupted.
"What?" asked Nick, looking up from Elle and straight at me.
"Can we leave?" I said. I knew he'd say yes. The choice between the two of us was clear, he'd pick me. He probably hated(hate is a strong word)...he probably dislikes her as much as I do, but being the polite person he is he hides it behind a fake smile.
