The next day, at school, I met up with Carly. We were just chatting when I remembered something.

'Hey Carly? Why haven't I seen Rachel Lebowitz this year?' I asked.

Rachel Lebowitz was the head cheerleader and the most popular girl in our school. She comes from a family which is loaded so she thinks that she can do whatever she wants.

'I heard that she went to Paris to attend a fashion show. She'll be coming today.' Carly replied, rolling her eyes.

Just then, I heard an oh - so - familiar high pitched voice. 'Do you know that this shoe costs more than a thousand dollars!'

'The drama queen has arrived!' Carly muttered, looking behind me.

I turned around to see what the commotion was about and saw Rachel glaring down at a freshman guy who was trembling.

Poor guy!

'I...I'm so sorry! I... I didn't mean to step on your shoe. It was by accident.' he stuttered.

Rachel narrowed her eyes and continued. 'Do you think you could even buy a shoe like this?' You...'

TRRRING!!

'Saved by the bell!' Carly murmured.

The freshman guy quickly took off as soon as the bell rang. I rolled my eyes and went with Carly to our next class after taking our books.

A few seconds after we entered the class, Nathan walked in. His face lit up when he saw me and he smiled at me, walking with his friends towards the back. I gave him a small smile trying to ignore the jealous stares from the other girls. Luckily the teacher walked in after him and the class settled down.

The bell rang shaking me out of my day dreaming. Carly and I headed towards the cafeteria for lunch. She was teasing me about the fact that Nathan had taken me home.

'Nathan Scott offered a ride to Amelia Canfield?' she teased, grinning.

I rolled my eyes at her as we joined the line.

'Ew! This year's food stinks!' Rachel squeaked from her table.

Carly muttered curses under her breath, rolling her eyes as I quietly chuckled.

After lunch, Carly and I made our way to our lockers. I had Chemistry while she had Biology.

'I hate the fact that we don't have Chemistry together!' Carly whined.

'Yeah, we'll be getting random lab partners.' I pointed out.

Carly sighed, nodding and said goodbye, heading towards the other side for her class.

As I was walking down the stairs, I saw Nathan coming from the other side.

He smiled. 'Chemistry?'

'Yeah. You too?' I asked.

He nodded. 'Yeah, I'm actually alone in this class. All my friends have other classes.

'Me too!' I said in agreement.

He chuckled and the two of us walked together to class.

I walked over to one of the empty seats and Nathan slid in next to me.

Mr Torres, our Chemistry sir entered and after some time he took out a file and announced that he would assign our lab partners to us. Saying that, he started reading out our names.
