Chapter Two

I nodded then made my out of the house to the chicken coop and grabbed two of them then made my way to a shed. I winced as I snapped each of their legs and set them into a basket. Quickly I trudged towards the barn and fed the walkers behind the doors then turned around, only to be met by Shane.

"What the hell's in there?" Shane asked before slamming his hand made spear into the ground. My eyes widened and fear spread across my once innocent face.

"It's nothin'" I replied with a faint smile.
"Then why the hell'd you bring alive chickens in there with snapped legs. Yeah, don't think your pretty face was unnoticed!" He yelled. I winced and he began to calm down.
"Just tell me what's in there," he sighed ," I'm not going to tell anyone unless you want me to."

"There's family members in the barn. Ones that got infected with the virus. Daddy thought that they could be cured but I honestly don't believe so" I said bluntly, attempting not to gag on my own tears. I couldn't help but begin crying while flashbacks of my mama turning played throughout my mind. Shane embraced me into an affectionate hug. I only gripped onto his navy blue shirt and sobbed uncontrollably. He pat my back then averted my gaze towards him by lifting my chin up with his hand. "Let's get you back inside. Maybe you still got some ice cream we could eat?" He chuckled. I wiped my oncoming tears from my tear duct then giggled faintly. He smiled and offered a piggy-back-ride to the house, I accepted and hopped onto his muscular back.

"So how are things with Lucas?" I asked him while digging my metal spoon into the big carton of ice cream we were sharing. I continued to watch the movie as I waited for his response.
"It's all good. Kid's like his mother, strong and stubborn" he smirked onto to gain a strong nudge in the stomach. He gagged on his ice cream and I giggled loudly.

Lucas stormed into the room with a giant toad in his hand.
"Look what I caught Shane!" He exclaimed. Lucas then realized that the two of us were cuddling on the couch and a smirk began to evenly spread onto his face.

"Aunt Maggie!" He ran off, leaving the toad behind.
"Shit" I muttered. I grabbed the frog and set it outside then chased after my pesky son, hoping he wouldn't mention anything that wasn't true to my sister. I found him in my sisters room, talking with her while sitting on the bed.

I ran into the room then tackled Lucas, showering him with gentle kisses and tickling him frantically.

"I didn't say anything mama, I promise!" He yelled between giggles.
"Yeah right you little punk" I retorted.

"What was he gonna tell me in the first place?" Maggie asked, a devilish smile plastered onto her face.
"Nothin, don't worry about it sis!" I answered and covered Lucas' mouth then ran out of the room with him.

"If you be quiet about what your little eyes saw, you can spend as much time makin' things with Shane as you want" I reasoned. He nodded happily then skipped outside onto the front porch.

I went to check on Carl one last time before I went with Glenn to get some food for us. I entered the room as Carl slowly got out of bed, my daddy helping him.
"Hey, little mans walking!" I smiled and Carl chuckled quietly. He seemed uneasy at first then began to get the hand of it.

"Why don't you go spend some time with Lucas?" Rick asked Carl. His son nodded then made his way out to the front porch.
"Anything in particular you need from the store?" I asked the sheriff. He shook his head then thanked me for going on a run with one of his men.

"Daddy, we're going now. Love you guys tons!" I screamed before closing the front door.
"Give me a second?" I asked Glenn. He nodded then made his way to the older Hyundai.

I walked over to Lucas.
"Mama's going on a run for food. If anything happens go find Maggie, Grampa, Beth, or Shane alright?" I asked the 6-year old. He nodded and continued to play with the pile of dirt he and Carl were in.
"And Carl, for gods sake be careful and don't get hurt again"
"Yes ma'am!" He stood proudly and nodded.

"Elizabeth?" I heard Lori call.
"Mhm" I made my way towards Rick's wife and smiled.
"I need you to get me something if you can find it" she handed me a list and my eyes widened. I nodded then hugged her before jogging towards the car.
"Let's go" I obliged. Glenn nodded then started the car and drove off.

"So, how's it with Maggie?" I asked while smirking. A blush creeped onto his face and I giggled but soon covered my mouth so no more could escape.
"We kind of maybe did the 'do' " he replied.
"Really!" I answered as excitement for my sister flew through every single part of my body.
"Damn. I never expected her to be the kind for a one-time thing" I mumbled then glanced out of the window for a short second. He rolled his eyes then stopped the car at a pharmacy.

"How the hell is this gonna get us food Pizza boy?" I snapped before jumping out of the car with my bag.
"Pharmacy's have everything don't you know" he replied, drawing his gun eye level and waiting for any walkers to come sluggishly limping towards us. I knocked on the glass and waited for any sign of walkers. None had seemed to be in there so I cautiously opened the door and stepped inside.

"Go find stuff. I've gotta look for something real quick then I'll be there to help ya" I stated. He nodded and made his way to the food section of the pharmacy. I creeped my way over to the feminine hygiene section and searched for the items that Lori needed. I groaned and stuffed the items into the bag then stood up. Glenn and I were face-to-face.

"You're pregnant?" He asked wide-eyed. I shook my head frantically, "No, no!" I sighed deeply, "this isn't for me dip shit." The Korean rolled his eyes and I smacked him before walking off to gather food.
"Just because you're kinda my sisters boyfriend, doesn't mean I gotta like you" I shouted to the boy. I heard a faint whatever come from the area he was in and I rolled my eyes, secretly flipping him off behind the shelving.

The drive back home was quiet and awkward. Neither of us shared a single word after the slight fight we had previously had. I groaned and rolled down the window so I could get a breather. The car ride was tense which caused it to heat up inside and we couldn't waste gas on air-conditioning.
"So why, again don't you like me?" He asked then looked at me. I rolled my eyes and replied ,"So why, do I have do answer your dumbass question?"

"Are you sure you aren't the pregnant one. Cause you sure are acting like it" he stated. I groaned once more, " just hurry up, I want out of this car and away from you."

Once we arrived at the farm I immediately exited the vehicle and gave the stuff to Lori. I then walked inside and set out all the food I had brought and looked at the expiration dates labeled on the cans.

"All good" I placed every good can into the pantry along with the other food items.

"Elizabeth, we need your help! Something's in one of our wells!" I heard my sister scream from outside.
