               Emmas pov
I wake up and see that im not in my room, but Lukes. Hes sleeping right beside me, with hair all over his face and his arm draped over me. I gently push his hair back, causing him to stir. He blinks open his eyes. "Sorry," I giggle and he smiles, "You're lucky you're cute," he ruffles my hair and I groan, throwing the blankets off, and walking to the door. He gets up, complaining im to difficult, and follows me down to the kitchen. "Oh Emma! Hello! I didnt know you were here!" Liv laughs and smiles, grabbing her keys. "Me and your father are going out with Emmas parents, we'll be back later!" She jumps as she hears Andrew honking at her and laughs, "I best be off!" We wave her off, and get cereal to eat.

Its been like three hours and Luke and I are enjoying our pizza, when I get a call from Liz. I laugh, "Luke, its your mum," I swipe it to answer, "Hey, Liz, whats up?" I put it on speaker and wait for her response. "Honey, im sorry.. on the way back from lunch, a semi crashed into your parents car..." I look at Luke as tears instantly begin to form. He sits up, grabs his keys, and pulls me to the driveway. "Mum, what hospital are you at?" Luke pulls out of the driveway, talking to his mum. We get directions, making it there in a span of 4 minutes, caused by much needed speed. I grab Lukes hand and we run inside. "Hello, wheres the room for Carter?" Luke says frantically. The lady types on her computer, and smiles sweetly, "floor 2, room r82," we bolt for the elevator, hitting the 2 button. We reach r82 and my throat closes. Luke turns the nob and walks in, and I swear my heart stops as I see my parents laying helplessly in a small hospital bed. I sit next to my mom, and hold her hand. Her heart rate is slowing down by the minute. I sob uncontrollably as Luke rubs my back, with his arm around my waist.

Liz and Andrew left earlier, as they had work to do, and Luke was called home for dinner. I sigh and look at my mom, seeing her normally, beautiful features, filled with sorrow and darkness. Im staring at the blank wall and everything that happens next, went in slow motion. Im screeching the chair back and running out the door, screaming for a nurse, slowly hearing my mothers heart rate speed up. The doctors all crowd around her bed, and two nurses push my fathers bed into another room, leaving me to sit in the halls, wondering what i did to deserve this.

I guess i took a nap because im being shook by a doctor. I look around and wipe the dribble of slob off my mouth. He clears his throat, "Im very sorry mam, your mother passed about two hours ago," He sends me a sympathetic smile and thats when i feel it. My whole heart splitting into two pieces. My mother, my bestfriend, the woman i look up to,  gone. No longer walking this earth that billions of people call home. No longer sitting at the table every morning to see how my day was, or what we're doing in science. I sit in the hospital for who knows how long, when a girl, about 5 inches taller than me, tells me my father has awoken. When i get to his room, he has a dissatisfied frown on his face. Theres a doctor writing information on a clipboard and I cant help but ask, "Whats going on?" He looks up at me, at my father, at me again. My father nods gently and the doc speaks up, "I know its hard for you right now, but we did some test, and Im sorry but your father has stage 2 Cancer," Earlier my heart split in two, but now its my whole world split in two. I instantly run into my dads arms and we just sit there, crying, mumbling about how much we love, and miss mom.

I cant even keep my eyes open so I kiss my dads cheek, and exit the room. Its pouring and I didnt have a ride, so I walk, alone. Lukes already holding the door open when i get there, and I dont take any hesitation to wrap myself around his waist and wish this was all a dream. Wish.
