"Babe, we have a baby checkup today," Luke says, getting out of bed. I take my robe off and hang it up, hearing Luke gasp behind me. "What?" I giggle and he shakes his head. "You. You're just so.. beautiful," he smiles at me and i blush. "Thank you, Luke," It's warm out today, so I put on a striped loose dress, and some sandals. Lukes already dressed, so we head to the hospital. Today's the day we find out the gender of our baby. I think it's a boy, and Luke thinks it's a girl. Either way, we're both very happy.
When we get in there, our usual nurse, Linda, is waiting with a smile. "Hello! Emma! Luke! Are you ready to figure out your baby's gender?" We nod eagerly and she gestures for me to lay on the bed. I flinch at the cold gel, but relax as Luke takes my hand. "Well... hm," I feel my heart race quicken. "Is something wrong?" Luke says, glancing at Linda. "Kinda... you see, one baby has two feet, but your baby has four.." it takes us a minute to comprehend what she's saying. "Wait... we're having twins?!" Linda's smile widens. "Yes! One boy and one girl!" I grin at Luke and he presses his lips to mine. Linda wipes the gel off and i hop off the bed. I wrap my arms around Linda, and she smiles. "Goodbye dear, congrats again," I pull away. "Alright, bye bye Linda," We walk out and decide to get food. We end up at a popular cafe downtown. A waitress comes up and immediately starts flirting with Luke. "Hey cutie, what can I get you? Pasta? Coffee? My number?" She winks and Luke scrunches up his face. "Actually, my girlfriend and I here would like maybe another server?" I stifle a laugh under my breath and she scoffs. "Whatever," We get an apology from the manager, and a new server. "Hello! My names Jessica, and I'll be- Luke Hemmings? Emma Carter?" Jessica. Woah. The Jessica Luke Dated? I gasp and look at her. "Jessica?" Her long brown hair is pulled into a ponytail and she swings it over her shoulder. "Yeah! This is awkward... listen I'm really sorry-" I place my hand on hers. "Jessica, we're past High-school. Everything from then doesn't matter. It's all good," Luke nods and she sighs in relief. "Cool. Now what would you two like to order?"
After we eat, we decide to walk around the town. "Can we go to the baby store?" Luke nods and we walk into the shop. I almost scream at the sight. "Grandma? " I hug the old lady working at the front desk and she squeezes me back. "Oh, Emma, darling," I pull back and laugh nervously. "Where have you been? How's your mom? Dad?" My smile drops and I look down. Before they died, my parents and grandma got into a huge fight, so my stupid aunt Clarissa decided not to invite her to the funeral, or even inform her about their death. "Grandma... they died almost a year ago..." My grandma covers her mouth and tears pool in her eyes. "What?! How foolish I didn't know!" I nod and tell her the story, adding the fight and how my Aunt Clarissa didnt invite her. She smiles and changes the topic to all the store sales. "Oh yeah! You're gonna have great grandchildren in 7 months!" She wraps her arm around me and jumps. "Dear, that's wonderful! Who's this young man?" She nods at Luke and I grab his hand. "This is my boyfriend, Luke," she smiles and hugs him. "Im Jane, nice to meet you," he says hello to her and we continue to shop around. When it's time to check out, my grandma smiles. "Oh honey, don't worry about it, I'll give you a ring sometime though, alright?" She writes her number on a card and hands it to me. I shove it into my purse and smile. "Alright, bye grandma, love you," I lean over the counter and give her a kiss on the cheek. "Nice meeting you, Jane!" She smiles. "You too, Luke."
When I walk in, I see the living room reorganized, with a blanket and rose petals in front of the fire. There's a laptop open to Netflix, and a bowl of snacks. I look at Luke and he grins. "Surprise!" I gasp. "Luke, this is amazing!" I stare in awe, and slip my shoes off. We start to snack on the food and watch movies, enjoying the moment.
We just watched about 3 movies and Luke stands up. "Emma?" I look up and he pulls me so I'm standing. "I love you a lot. And I'm way to excited to prepare a speech and all that, but I know I wanna spend the rest of my life, and after, with you. So Emma Jane Carter, will you marry me?" He goes on one knee and pulls a velvet box out of his pocket. He opens it to reveal a simple diamond ring with a small band, and a big diamond in the middle. I gasp and nod my head. He slides the ring on my finger and smiles. "Im glad you said yes, lassie," I raise my eyebrow but laugh. "I only said yes because-" he cuts me off. "Oh shut up," he presses his lips to mine and kisses me. I smile and kiss back.
