Chapter 3:
The sun is almost down now. It's 5:45 and I need to get home. That Alex dude was very sketchy, and I was never going to tell him where I live. Who just has a truck parked in the alley? Only sketchy people, that's who!
I realized that it's been awhile and my uber isn't showing so I decided to walk home. It's not that far of a walk honestly. It's like a 20 minute walk from Barnes and Noble to the apartment complex. I'm like 10 minutes into the walk when it starts to rain. This day couldn't get any worse. I start to run for it. Of course by the time I get to the apartment complex I'm soaking wet. Ava is sitting on the counter leaning against the wall with her feet propped on the counter as well. "Very professional Ava!" I say as I take my backpack off and start walking towards her. "You've been gone all day, so this is your fault. You're usually down here making sure I'm doing stuff.", She replied. She hopped off the counter and gave me her sweater that was on her chair. I put it on and put my hair down.
"So what happened?", Ava asked. I looked at her like she was a witch or something. "What do you mean?" I said as I tried to avoid the question. " Mili something happened. You usually leave and come back fast. Not only that but you also look like you've had a rough day." She laughed, jumping back onto the counter. I decided that since I didn't let her spill her tea, I'll spill mine, I got onto the counter and sat across from her.
"Okay so listen. I did my normal thing. You know Starbucks and strolling." she nodded. "After I got my Starbucks, I was walking and there was a lot of people outside of this music store. So me being me, I went to the flipping music store. I managed to get in and let me tell you that is the coolest place I've ever been in. But anyways it's completely em-". The door opens and the little noise the door makes rang. "Welcome back!" Ava says not even paying attention to who it is. The person that walked in stayed in the lobby and sat down in the living area of the lobby. "Continue" she said. "As I was saying it's empty and I didn't really notice, or care, because this place is awesome and then this guy starts talking to me." Being cut off again Ava yells, " Shut up!", excitedly. " No Ava that's not what the point to this is. You know me better than anyone and you know how I am with strangers. I tried to avoid that and looked somewhere else. Then he tried to talk to me again! Then after that I tried to leave, but all the people that were outside were blocking the door. I kind of started to panic, but then the store manager came out. And the guy was with two other random dudes and then he said that he could get me out. He took me to the alley and we got in a truck. Then I told him to drop me off at Barnes and Noble." I was waiting for her reaction.
"You've had a crazy day." She said laughing, shaking her head. Ava was laughing! That's not what I expected. I honestly think she thinks I made this up. "That's all you're going to say Ava?" I snapped. I mean what could she say, now that I think about it. " Did Prince Charming have a name?" She joked, pushing me off the counter. "Was he cute?" She continued. "He wasn't bad looking." I replied to the second question.
I got my backpack and put it on. I walked to the elevators and pressed the button. While I was waiting I said, " Look it's been a long day. I'm gonna go change and make some food. I expect to see you upstairs in an hour, okay?" The elevator finally opened and I walked in. Ava yelled back, " Okay I'll see you later. Good Luck!" She yelled louder at the end. And as the doors were closing, an arm stopped the doors from closing completely. The "good luck" part made sense now. When the doors opened back up, the person who was in the lobby, was now at the elevator. And this isn't just any person, it's the person from the music store. It's Alex. "Let me guess. You're the new tenant?" I said annoyed. He smiled. "Yup."
