Chapter 5:
I now have a total of about 3 friends. Or at least I think. I'm not quite sure how this whole Alex thing is going to work out. He obviously did a little flirting in the kitchen. I don't want to mess anything up, for the moment at least.
"So other than following me, what do you like to do sir." I said jokingly. "Okay first of all I'm not following you. And if anything you're following me." Alex laughed and then continued, "Nah but I really love music." This didn't seem like a surprise to me at all. Everyone in California seems to love music. "Oh seriously, I love music too. But I'm gonna guess you're probably way better than me." I blushed and pushed some of my now dry hair behind my ear. " I mean I haven't heard you play or sing anything so. You know I'm recording tomorrow you should come over." Alex seemed a little more excited. "Wait what? Record?" I said unsure. "So you really haven't heard anything about me?" He asked. "No, the first time I heard about you was today." I said a little embarrassed. " Well in that case, We're going to record a video of us singing tomorrow. You can't say no either." Alex said getting up from the couch. " I haven't sang since choir in ninth grade. How about I just watch." I was trying to get out of this situation. "You're going and you're going to attempt to sing." He grabbed my hand and pulled me up from the couch. "I don't think it's a good idea Alex." I said insistently. He got behind me and whispered in my ear "You're singing." I turned around and faced him. He's a bit taller than me, so I actually have to look up at him. You could see in his eyes that he really wanted to do this. "Fine." I gave in.
"Great I'll be back." Alex said running to the door. "Where are you going!" I asked. Alex didn't answer, or he didn't hear me. I cleaned up while he was gone. I put the leftover pizza in the fridge. All the plates are in the sink now, and since he's taking a while, I decided to do them. Whenever I do the dishes I turn on my speaker and play music. Today's been an interesting day so interesting music it is. I was playing "you're a jerk" by New Boyz and I was getting into it when Alex walked in. All I heard was laughing. Then he came into the kitchen and starting dancing too. " you're a jerk, jerk, jerk, jerk, jerk, jerk, jerk, jerkin!" We're singing together. The song ended and the next song played, but I turned it down. He's still laughing at me and I can feel myself blushing. "You're a jerk!" I said laughing. "Hey do me a favor call me jerk one more time!" Alex said, catching what I did there. "You got some serious dance moves Mili." He continued the conversation. "I suck at dancing. And singing. And pretty much everything else." I said sarcastically. "Well we can't say that 'cause you haven't tried everything. And as for singing I haven't heard you sing." He showed me his guitar.
We went and sat on the couch again. I turned off my music and the tv. "I was thinking we can try singing something now. Just to see if you can harmonize with me." Alex strummed the guitar. "What are we singing?" I asked Alex. "What do you know?" He answered my question. "I know a lot of songs. I know "Fake Love" by Drake by memory." I said kind of embarrassed cuz that song just came out. "Oh that's great I've been wanting to sing that!" Alex said excited. "I'll start it off you join in once you get the tempo." He added. Alex began playing "Fake Love" a little different and then started to sing. By the time he got to , "something ain't right when we talking" I joined in. When sang the whole song fine. Surprisingly we didn't mess up at all. I thought I would mess it up because of timing but I didn't.
The whole time we were singing I didn't look at him at all. But I knew he was looking at me because I could feel it. "Mili you sang great. Whoever told you that you can't sing was very wrong." He said lifting my chin up with his hand. He tucked my fringe behind my ear. It's pretty late now, it's like 10:30 or 11. I yawned pretty hard. "Let me see your phone." he said. I handed over my phone unlocked. "That's my number. I texted myself so I have your number now. I'll text you tomorrow because you seem tired. You should go to bed I'll see you at my place at 3:00. I'll let myself out, goodnight Mili." He was already halfway out when I said "Goodnight Alex!" He looked back at me and smiled. His smile makes me self conscious because I know that I have a bad smile, but I'd never tell him that. I have plans for tomorrow, so to bed it is. Today happened for a good reason or bad reason. But I won't know until way later on. So for now I'll enjoy the new friend I made.
