Chapter 2

Ivy's Point of View

My worst nightmare had happened. Ryder found out I existed. God only knows, why it was today. Maybe it was for God's personal own entertainment. To watch my worst nightmare come real.

I had ignored every comment. I had ignored every remark. I had ignored every grin and kneed buckling smile.

I knew Ryder and he was really using all this charm on me.

I hadn't said a word. In fact I might even pretend like I couldn't speak at all, just to make sure a conversation never did start.

But if there was one thing I couldn't ignore, it was his fitness. He was pushing me. And usually I breezed through gym.

If there was anyone I could be paired with, that could match my skills, it was him. Like me he had years of training. But he didn't know that, so he was surprised when I didn't just collapse after our session.

"You are insanely fit." He said slightly out of breath, after our sprint around the oval. Neither one of us gave each other a break. Our gym teachers said we made a perfect pair and then went on about how no one could keep up with us.

I slowly brought my heart rate down, while grabbing my bottle of water.

"Come on you aren't going to say a word to me? Not after what I just put you through?" He followed me.

I gulped down my water. Doing what I had done all class, I ignored him. Surely he would take the hint.

"Come on, you can't say any other guy has kept up with you."

I started heading back to the gym. Take the hint Ryder. I'm not interested. Maybe in killing him, but not to have sex with him. And I knew the only reason he was talking to me was because he made me a target.

His hand went across the gym entrance. Blocking me from entering. I sighed and took my eyes off his arm and looked him in the eye. I saw he saw me as challenge. It was painted in his grey eyes.

"Just say one word to me so I know you aren't a mute?" He said, oh so charming, he even gave me his trade mark smile.

He was wasting his time.

"Move." I broke my silence. It was the only option. As tempting as staying a mute was, I knew he wasn't going to give up. Like me he was stubborn.

"And she speaks!"

"Move your arm out of my way."

He did move his arm, but then blocked the entrance with his body. Now standing in my way.

"So how long have you known who I am?" He said, sounding generally interested.

God! He thought a lot of himself didn't he!

I went to squeeze past him. But he just made it impossible.

I groaned. Looks like I would be forced to have a conversation with him.

"Do you remember in your first year of high school, when someone pushed you in the pool?" I looked up at him frustrated. I watched the memory appear on his face.

"You didn't." He said

I smirked. "That was me."

"I still blame Jack for that!"

"Well it wasn't him. So can you move now?"

He crossed his arms and leant against the door frame. "That was a mean thing to do. You didn't know me."

God I knew him. I had learnt to hate him at a young age. The reason I pushed him in the pool that day was because I had got into an argument with Dad over him.

It was one of mine and Dad's real fights. Which ended with him leaving me for a month. I had the idea that the Carter's wouldn't have a future if I took out his son. I was ready. I was trained. I could have done it.

Dad stood by the peace crap. Just thinking about it was frustrating me.

"You know what. I'll take the long way around." I started walking backwards. I couldn't be near him without wanting to kill him and his dad. Then rip everything they hold dear apart.

It was in my blood to want blood. And I wanted theirs. I wanted their territory. I wanted their money. I wanted the Maddison name to be stronger, bigger, and more feared. I didn't want someone else running beside us.

Or seen as equal.

"This is just beginning Ivy, now I know you exist." Ryder said to my back. "PLUS I'VE GOT TO GET YOU BACK FOR THE POOL!" He shouted after me.

I didn't think Ryder had brains. But he must have had some, because he didn't dare follow me. Which was a wise move because I was not in the mood to be fucked with.
