Chapter 6Ivy's Point of View
I was reminding myself how stupid I am. For a smart woman, I sure as hell can be stupid. It was a stupid idea to give Ryder my address and agree to helping him. I would like to view that moment in my life, as my one lapse of reality.
I hated him.
I wanted to kill him.
Well I thought I did.
Till he said that whole blood thing about his men.
I knew what he meant. I saw my men the same. As blood. Even though they weren't.
Still he had half the country and I wanted it. Badly. I wouldn't settle for half. And while I didn't know for sure, I was nearly positive he was with those men that attacked me.
I rolled my shoulder. It was still aching. I had ignored Jeff's warning about not training and trained today and now I was paying the price. My arm was basically shaking from the pain.
I never really stayed here. At the place which was meant to be my 'home'. Well I was never here. It was just a townhouse in the middle of the city.
I paid a cleaner once a week to come here and wipe the dust away.
So it was a real effort to make it looked lived in. Which was what I was trying to do. I put food in the fridge. Food I stole from Dad's fridge. I smirked he is going to be so pissed when he realise I stole his chinse.
I pulled it out of the fridge and walked to the television. Now what should I put on that made it seem like I had been watching it?
I took a mouthful of chinse and swallowed it and reached for my beer.
Oh, Ride Along was on. God I love that movie. I never really had time for television only when I'm sick. And I was sick when it was released. Marcus, the only other living person that knew Dad had a daughter, well he rented it for me.
This was before an apple box and Netflix.
The door bell rang. Well looks like he actually showed up. I glanced at the time. Bang on seven as well.
I left my chinse and beer on the coffee table and walked to the front door. Opening it, ok I wasn't expecting that.
"Aren't you cold?" I couldn't help myself to ask. It was pouring outside. It was the type of weather that people would question your sanity levels if you are out in. The wind was bending trees.
Ryder was basically drenched, standing in jeans and a tshirt. I felt cold, just looking at him.
"You have no idea." He blew out, basically stuttering.
I knew there was a story behind why he was so wet, but I don't think he was going to tell me. So I stepped out of the way for him to come in.
"God it's warm in here." He said.
"After being out in that I think anything would feel warm. What did you do walk here?" I joked. But then saw his expression. He had walked here. "You didn't seriously walk here did you?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "Wasn't raining as heavy when I left."
"Where's your car?"
"Dad's has taken all my cars off me. Let's just say I let him down. And he is taking my punishment serious." I had a feeling his punishment had something to do with that fight, and the drug houses being left unprotected.
"You could have cancelled."
"Didn't have your number."
"I would have assumed you got busy, when you didn't show up."
