A/N ok since you guys are so OBSESSED with a Hikari/Kakashi ship, I'm doing this little special for you, like the Sasuke one! This isn't a regular ship, but it expands on their friendship.
Why me? Why couldn't they send someone else? This mission was too simple for someone like me. Ah well, the quicker I got it done, the better. I looked at the picture in my hand as I sat in my apartment. An academy student, Hikari Yami, had gone missing 24 hours ago, no 27 hours now. She was just a student, why did an ANBU have to go find her? There were plenty of lower ranked shinobi who could find her. Fine, whatever. I stood and slipped a blacked hooded jacket on over my ANBU gear with my mask on the back of my head, hidden by the hood. I decided to start by checking out her living space since it was day time and I couldn't really do any work with students running around. I went to the roof of her building and noticed a window was cracked open. I check the paper again, and it should've been a window to her apartment. I silently walked down the wall and peered inside, and noting that she wasn't inside, opened the window fully and jumped in over the bed. The room around me was fairly well kept, minus a few items of clothing strewn across the floor, but that wasn't what I was looking for. Thankfully I hadn't disturbed the dust that had started settling around the place, which was my first clue. She had been missing for far longer before anyone reported it, which could be part of the reason I was here. Plus, this place smelled... Off. I looked around a bit more, before finally spotting it. There was blood underneath one of the shirts on the floor. I then moved out to the living space, noticing more blood, but in bigger puddles, some so big that they weren't dried even after at least three days. I frowned as I tried to think of why she would be bleeding so much, but as I looked around more of the apartment, I realized that it wasn't all her blood. There were puddles of blood that was darker in color, almost the color of burnt oil, but it was still blood judging from the smell. There was more of the normal kind, which made me rethink who had been hurt more, but why would she have different colored blood? I followed the trail left by the assailant, who seemed to have run out the front door, and over rooftops. There were splashes of it everywhere, that I wasn't even sure why this had gone unchecked for so long. It led to a small house outside of the village, hidden away in the trees. This blood was still wet as well, which meant this had happened recently, like hours ago. I crept up to a window and peered in, spotting a lone figure slumped over. I could hear them breathing hard, so it wasn't that difficult to sneak in.
"Dammit they never told me she was strong. How the hell is a little girl that strong?" he kept muttering, trying to patch up a wound. I slipped my mask over my face and tapped his shoulder. He turned around and let out a cry of fright when he spotted me. He was wearing a Leaf headband.
"Explain yourself," I said in a dark tone. He started blubbering and no coherent words came out. I could see that he had a wound in his left thigh and ankle, and there was a growing dark spot on his abdomen already wrapped in bandages. I stepped on his ankle, causing him to cry out again.
"They offered me a high price, and besides, she's a monster!" I crouched, putting more pressure on his ankle, and he tried to swing a punch, but I easily caught it. I got right in his face.
"What did you do to her?" I growled at him. His eyes widened in fear and he started shaking more.
"I was going to slit her throat. Quick, and mostly clean, but she heard me before I could get close enough. I managed to get her in the arm pretty good, so she should've bled out by now." He started laughing until my hand met his throat.
"You are lower than the worst scum I have every met." My hand gripped his throat, and he dropped his fist, allowing me to grab his head and twist until his neck broke. He stopped moving and collapsed to the ground and I stood, trying to think where she would have gone. If I was scared to be home, where else would I feel safe? Probably the academy. I traveled by rooftop since I could tell that the students were dismissed for the day, and went to find her instructor. It turned out to be Iruka, scolding a blond kid. Once I saw the symbol on his shirt, I realized it was that Naruto kid, Minato-sensei's child. I removed my mask and waited silently until he spotted me, and I almost cringed at how long it took him.
