HIKARI POV

Everything was dark and I felt like I was floating. There was no sound and no sight, but by god, there was a sense of touch. Every part of me was burning as if I was submerged in lava. I felt that if I stayed like this any longer, I would start to feel my body melting away, so I forced myself to open my eyes. I stood in that flooded basement before the red cage in a weird mixture of fear and wonder. Kasai was thrashing around and glowing oddly. Her eyes were glowing a bluish white and her fur was on fire again, but this fire was an extremely dark blue instead of its usual black. But none of that compared to the choking presence of her chakra as she screamed in rage and thrashed around in the cage. I could only imagine what my body was doing in her control, but I didn't have the mental power for that because something caught my attention. There was something else among her cries. Someone was yelling my name, but I couldn't recognize the voice. I closed my eyes and tilted my head back, but no matter how much I tried I couldn't place the voice. Then another voice, but that was easy to place. It was Naruto's, and it made me smile. I couldn't tell what he was saying, but his voice was as obnoxious as ever. Hmm, did that make the other voice Sasuke's? Had they passed the exams? Were they getting along? I hadn't been told anything while imprisoned, so I could only hope for the best. Suddenly, as my eyes were still closed, I saw the outside world. I blinked at the bright light and stared in shock at the faces around me. I still wasn't in control of my body, but I could see what was happening. I was facing Kakashi and Itachi, but in the background was Naruto and Sasuke who looked to be yelling. What had happened..? My eyes snapped opened and I was back in the basement and my gaze met Kasai's as she growled at me. Then I remembered the genjutsu and my temper began to rise.

"KASAI, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" I screamed at her. She just roared at me and tried to reach through the bars to get me. "YOU'RE HURTING THE PEOPLE WE SWORE TO PROTECT!" I watched her eyes widened as angry tears fell from my eyes, turning the water beneath us to a glowing white.

"Hi..kari..." she said slowly as I watched her calm down. She too was crying, and I understood.

"Yes, we're hurt and angry, but doing this, to them? How could anyone be safe now that we've lost it once?" Her ears folded back and she lowered her head. I stared up at the seal on the gate and tried to recall my studies of it.

"I... can't stop..." She sounded so hurt, and I knew there was only one way.

"Are they able to hurt us?"

"...No. What are you... thinking?"

"Do you know the failsafe of the Eight Trigram Seal?" She shook her head. "In the event that the vessel was to use too much of the sealed chakra and have their chakra depleted totally, the seal drains all the remaining chakra in both beings so they parish."

SASUKE POV

I felt an odd sensation within me as I watched Hikari thrash around and attack Kakashi with no remorse. Maybe it was the fact that Itachi had shown up out of nowhere and was seemingly protecting me. Naruto was shouting, saying things to try and snap her out of it, but there was no sign it was working. He was getting angry, and I could see that orange aura starting to envelop his body.

"Dammit Hikari, I'm not losing you too!" he shouted before jumping into the fray. I didn't follow, since the only reason I had come here was to test my strength, and I had received a clear answer to that. They all tried to stop him, but Naruto easily didged everything and now stood face to face with Hikari. She was growling and crouched to attack, but he pounced first, pinning her to the ground.

"Let go of me!" she shouted.

"No! You need to stop this, Kari-chan!" She suddenly went still and the auras around them both started to die.
