The Virus : Strain Z

I texted Tara to check on her and her parents. She said she was fine, just worried about us. She also said she told her brother to take care of me or he'd be in trouble she texted teasingly. I rolled my eyes and chuckled. I followed my parents and Lux downstairs.

The news was playing again. I thought it was just a repeat of this morning, until I saw a video, this time from Australia. It was a view from a helicopter and the only people moving around were the infected. But it was the amount of infected that shocked us, several thousand. The camera zoomed in for a closer look at them. They ignored the animals walking past them and only became alerted to somebody that appeared on a roof top with a "HELP ME" sign.

The infected swarmed towards the building and started trying to climb the walls. The helicopter dropped closer and lowered a chain to the survivor and to pull him to safety. After seeing the person saved and the news switch back to a repeat I decided to go downstairs to stay busy and keep my mind on what was going on.

Lux joined me as I settled down to watch Supernatural. Lux was the only other person who'd watch the show with me. Tara and my parents thought the show was crazy with a side of weird. About halfway into the second episode I started to drift off. When I woke up I was snuggled up to Lux. "Oh shoot! I'm sorry!" I said as I shot upright hoping I didn't snore or drool on him while asleep.

"Its ok Salia, to be honest I actually enjoyed you snuggling up to me" he said as he smiled and stretched. I felt my face heat up as I went to switch discs for the next round of Supernatural. As I did my stomach grumbled and Lux said he was getting hungry.

We went back upstairs just in time to see my mom put her famous pot roast on the table. "Oh good, I was just about to come get y'all. Salia would you get your father? He's in the study." I hurried to get him and found him with his nose buried in the computer, "Glasses dad, remember? But since you're to busy to eat mom's pot roast then fine, more for me" I teased him as I walked to the door. I heard his chair hit the wall as he jumped up and followed me eager for supper.

''Gee Mrs. Wilthop, that was amazing!'' Lux said as he patted his stuffed stomach contentedly. ''Yeah mom, as always its perfect'' I aggreed. ''Why thank both" mom said happily as she stood to take her plate to the sink.
''I'll do the clean-up mom. You go relax'' I said as she started to take the food off the table. ''I'll help Salia'' Lux told her as he pushed his chair back and stood. My parents left to the living room and I started cleaning the table.

''You don't have to help Lux, you can go in the living room to'' I told him. 'But I want to help' he replied with a grin on his face. I put the food in the fridge and he wiped the table off. We then washed and rinsed the dishes leaving then in the drain to dry. As we were about to leave the kitchen Lux wrapped his arms around me in a hug.

''Thanks for letting me hangout with you Salia, it means a lot to me'' he said quietly. I just nodded against his chest and gave him a quick hug back. He released me and we went to the living room. ''Just curious, but where am I gonna bed down for the night? I'm ok anywhere really'' Lux asked my parents. They thought about it untill I reminded them of the spare room right by mine. It was already prepared for a guest. Just never really needed it till now. They agreed and I brought Lux upstairs.

''This is it'' I gestured as I opened the door & turned on the light. ''Sorry its not the best room but its the cleanest, & only one with an actual bed in it at the moment'' I said sheepishly. ''Its perfect, plus right by yours so I can keep an ear open for you'' he told me as he brushed some of my hair behind my ear and tugged my braid gently. I walked over to the dresser and found some spare clothes of my dad's.

''Will these fit ok for tonight? They're my dads but he never wears them so mom put them in here incase someone needed them'' I said as I put them on the bed and went to walk out of the room to give him some privacy. ''Any chance I can use the bathroom & take a shower? I'm a bit rank from the drive here'' he said as he turned to watch me leave.

''Oh yes. I'm sorry I completely forgot to ask you about that. Follow me'' I said blushing as I went down the hall. I showed him the way to the bathroom and went back to my room to play on my laptop. I heard a knock on my door & then mom peeked in "Where's Lux honey?'' she asked. After I explained he wanted to take a shower and that I had found him some pajamas to wear she told me goodnight and went to bed, dad following behind her looking very sleepy.

After several minutes my door opened. It was Lux with nothing but a towel around his waist. ''Oh shoot! I'm so sorry Salia! I misjudged the doors and thought this was my room! Please don't be mad.'' he said as he backed out embarrassedly. ''Its ok Lux, I'm not mad'' I said as I fought back giggles.

'He sure looks cute when he was nervous like that' I thought to myself. He hurried to his room and shut his door. I let loose all the giggles I'd been holding in and texted Tara to tell her. She thought it was hilarious and wished I had a picture of his expression when it happened. The one thing left out of our conversation was the feelings I was beginning to have for Lux. Mostly because I didn't even know why I was feeling them myself.
